I love these movies but once Marvel and DC get into these cosmic beings, then it gets too much . Too overpowering , too omniscient. Thanos, Galactus, Living Tribunal, the One,. blahblah.

I never followed the comics, but I saw a list on imgur about the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe and it was just silly. At one point, every single being was omnipotent, omniscient, could shape reality, control time, etc. Not only is this something that they can't really replicate on screen, but making these beings so powerful kind of makes everything else that goes on seem insignificant.

Edit: Found the list I was referring to: http://imgur.com/gallery/VcbmR

Haven't seen it yet but most sites like rotten tomatoes rate it well. But you seem to dislike most of these comic book movies.

To each their own. 91% points to it being a really good movie.

Seeing this in a few hours. Everyone so far is telling me it is enjoyable and solid. CMB is the resident LG emo kid that dislikes all and sees the negative in any and everything.

Haven't seen GotG but that's a solid list that most would agree on.

Yeah, the Incredible Hulk (Edward Norton) was a solid, mid-tier movie IMO.

lol. Express negative criticism on something someone else likes, and some sensitive chick on the internet characterizes you as Waldorf and Statler. Shrug.

Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Djimon Honsou, and Benecio Del Toro were all in this movie and Dave Bautista got more lines than all of them combined, which speaks for the production goals.

Yup. Agree with the list except for Thor 2. It wasn't anything special for me. I'd probably just bump Iron Man 1 up, Thor 2 down and make it only 3 tiers.

Wow Cap 1 as top 5? I'd like an explanation why. I'm definitely not hating, just curious. I hold Iron Man 2 higher than most, so I'm not one to bash opinions haha.

I thought it was ok. Certainly middle of the road for me as far as I'm concerned and doesn't crack my top 10 of just Marvel movies (Avengers, Cap:FA, Spiderman 2, X-Men 1st class, X-Men: DOFP, Iron Man 1, Spiderman 1, Cap: WS, Thor 1, tie between Thor 2 and X2)

I've ranked it higher, but for me, I love the WWII background and it shows through the director Joe Johnston, who was a major part in Raiders of the Los Ark and Rocketeer. Even when it was being treated as nothing more than a prologue to Avengers, it still had heart and showed you don't need to be dark to have a compelling story/lead. It's a throwback to some good ol movie storytelling.

Oh come on! I haven't seen it yet and you're making it sound even worse than I first thought. I'm just surprised among the Marvel Universe they chose this team. I never really thought much of them. I thought Drax was a villain that died a long time ago in the comics.

Boo-hoo, Glenn Close didn't get more screen time. Please, "chick".

Movie was good. The comedy wasn't over the top and it had more heart than I was expecting. It seemed to follow the same Marvel movie formula as the previous set of films... I DID feel like the "friendship" between the group came about rather quickly though. I got a nice Star Wars-y sci-fi vibe from a lot of the scenes. Marvel needs to work on their villains though. So far Loki is the only one with any real weight to him.

Haven't seen GotG but that's a solid list that most would agree on.

Honestly I had both mixed up in my head lol. I should probably bump it up to mid tier.

Iron Man 3 had potential for top tier but a few things ruined it for me:
1) The low amount of scenes with Tony in the suit
2) The neutering of the Mandarin after they had modernized him SO WELL. (I know they're correcting this though)
3) Inconsistency with the durability of the suits.

But on topic, I really enjoyed Guardians and I recommend people go watch if you like other Marvel movies
