I like Tanter and enjoy our more mature basketball vibe but I too dont think he's some legendary irreplaceable person.

Tanter is one of the few remaining pieces of Lakers brand quality. Enjoy him before he's gone and replaced by a parade of nameless forgettables.

LT is about the only remaining presence from the glory years, so part of the respect he gets is from that. Part of it also is he is still good. The best part about him is that like Chick Hearn was, Tanter is stylistically an original, no one else did the job this way.

Seriously. The sound of a Laker game used to be Chick Hearn, LT and the Laker band. Now all we have is LT, basically, since they barely let the band play anymore.

I went to a game last year, it had been a while. I was kinda shocked by all of the damn techno music they play during the games now. It was kinda like being in a club in Glendale.

I actually don't mind that. A more modern "Hollywood" atmosphere makes more sense that pretending its still 1980, especially to FAs. That said, its a shame that outside of LT and maybe Stu (maybe, he's still problematic) our announcers and media guys are mostly generic filler rather than top talents.

I know it is just me. Being a musician I am very picky about music and electronic music just drives me up a wall. I like the band a lot because they play actual live music and are not just moving some faders around.

I know he won't last and we will have some guy yelling all the time in the near future to go along with our wish patches and the blasting techno music. But for now, I can be happy and just soak in the coolness that is LT.

But if the annoying Detroit guy was yelling for the Lakers, would it still be annoying?

Yes. Not saying LT is great but we don't need the other extreme either.

To me? Extremely annoying. I love LT, laid back and cool like LA. No need for all the yelling. There is enough stimulous going on everywhere, why does the announcer need to yell and make stupid noises?

I like LT he fit this town's style but

This was the first road game since Kobe announced his retirement and I thought it was a classy and cool introduction.

And I can agree with that, but I think LT is loved because he has been a Laker for so long. Our memories all involve him. I think being on the right side is a lot more important for likability than actual content sometimes.

For me personally, he doesnt add anything to the experience and I wouldn't miss him after he retired.

Maybe have Stephen Hawking do the PA.

It would definitely be cutting edge techno.

I see its time for our annual bump for this thread.

Also, staples crowd is really underrated.

Joe Davis does a great job for the Dodgers. I actually dread the
Charlie Steiner games.

It says he does college basketball in his bio, but I've never heard.

Those Steiner stories... maybe working with Rick Monday has rubbed off. I remember liking him.

Please no. I don't know if I can sit through this without thinking our team is some sort of side-show. I have to admit though, it takes creativity to introduce Ben Wallace like that. Tanter definitely has way more class.

If that doesn't give you tingles, you're dead. Love Tanter, but this Detroit DJ kills it. I'm hyped just watching it.

That's cool that Jar Jar Binks found gainful employment after Phantom Menace.
