Hope we get to hear what happened to cause it this quickly right after Jim's "1 and 15" statement. I think we're just going to hear it was a decision by Jim.
Could be a Westhead like situation where he talked to 1+ of the star players. How do you go from 1-15 to this in a day or two?
Now that this situation has mercifully come to an end, I hope he's not replaced by another coach who is overly-reliant on a gimmick offense/defense and that is Dan Tony.
NO OTHER MIKES!
I think the fact that Jim commented so quickly on it,the writing was on the wall.Espn was just saying that Chris Broussard had just talked to someone in the Lakers brass last night who said they were not making any quick decisions and was surprised at this move. _________________ Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,it's learning how to dance in the rain....
Lakers ownership has made it clear that buying out Brown's remaining $11M-plus and investing in new coach now won't be issue, sources say.
@Mike_Bresnahan
Brown was "caught off guard" by today's firing, according to a source. It's the earliest a coach has ever been fired by the Lakers.
Not surprised at all by his reaction, the guy's a potato head. _________________ "It was tough," Kobe Bryant said. "But when it got really tough for me, I just checked myself in."
I would be in favor of Phil, but Pau was weak with him and wouldnt likely get better except in frustrating spurts. Remember Phil pushing him to try to get him going vs Dallas?
If we trade Pau for something worthy (or Worthy-ish), and Phil and Buss's can get along then Phil, come on down.
I was a big NateM fan before Portland confused me by firing him. Not sure about him now. Jerry Sloan may be a bit old and too fiery for a guy like Dwight, though perfect for Kobe, Nash, perhaps Meta. You need a gravitas guy for this veteran team, and for a guy like Dwight to have to respect for the next 4 years.
Really, bottom line, hope the new coaching decision is based on a high probability of achieving championship level defense with whatever offense the team employs.
Im curious what insiders hear from the assistant coaches over the last 18 months about what needs to be down, Brown's pluses and minuses, etc.
Is Chuck Person a candidate to stay?
Lastly, man I wish Mike Krysewskisheffski is in the mix. Someone more knowledgeable than me address this/post this? You got mike brown fired, maybe you can get this thing going or at least discussed.
I can't help but think that there's already another coach in the wings that they have been negotiating with. What other reason can there be for the sudden change just a day after Buss had given him a vote of confidence.
Of course ESPN is taking a negative slant on this,good job as always _________________ Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,it's learning how to dance in the rain....
