I wonder... who will be on the staff that can get the players to commit to solid defense together? _________________ "We got a new universe coming and he's going to control all our universes. We're going to put our universes together" - Metta World Peace |

I would have been a lot happier than this if I hadn't been reading for days that Phil was the favorite
Still holding out hope since Woj hasn't reported |

With Nash on this team, he's a better fit _________________ "My thirst for domination is fed only by the game. I refuse to get distracted by outside forces." - Kobe Bryant |

Am i the only one happy about this? I thought that if we hired Phil, we'd go back to everyone thinking too much, and Nash being left out...With Pringles, Nash controls the offense and let's him put everyone in the right spot!
The defense will be just fine. Pringles will actually have players that are pretty good defenders to go along with Dwight. _________________ KobeDunk wrote:

That is why the team scrapped the offense, repeatedly stated the system was taking too long to learn, Mitch said they were not willing to take the chance on implementing something so intricate because they wanted to win now, they wanted a coach with a system that is easy to learn, and now that Bernie is allowing them to just play systemless they look 10x better than they have the whole season on offense AND defense? _________________

would have been the same with phil. dont see the argument. can understand if you thoguht phil was better, but this isnt a reason to cite it. _________________ Kobe "I mean Phil's been here, and -- to be honest with you -- we might have, in all the years I've been with Phil, (had) maybe three defensive drills the entire time" |

Phil had us at the top of the league defensively, just stop it. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible post! |

| I said a few days ago that I preferred Phil but D'antoni wouldn't be a bad choice either. The team will be fun to watch, and I do think D'antoni is good enough to coach a team to a title, especially a team this talented. They had some tough luck during the Nash/Marion/Amare era, and this team has more talent. |

you guys forget how Phoenix played with a good SG in Joe and mobile PF/C in Amare. Those guys just choked in the half court. We all know that ournroster is better than Phoenix' ever was.
This is showtime basketball. Love it. |

I would have much prefered Phil. But I'm not going to give up thinking this means we can't win it all. The 80s teams won champions without being defensive beasts. (They had some good defensive players... but defense was not their strength).
I do worry that our guys won't be able to run all game. But we'll see. _________________ "We got a new universe coming and he's going to control all our universes. We're going to put our universes together" - Metta World Peace |

I love this hire. If it couldn't be Bernie I want another coach that promotes an uninhibited play style. It didn't work in New York because they did not have the personnel.
With this much talented personnel, it will work well. Especially with all the pnr options. Dwight, pau, Kobe, nash. Ya'll saw how Kobe was playing pnr pretty much the entire game with Pau and Blake?
Also, since it is a 4yr deal, when the Lakers choose to transition out of this old squad, assuming we keep Howard, he will be a great coach to match the athleticism era the league is transitioning into. _________________

You would think, but 2 Knicks fans I talked to were actually excited about this hire. Both thought it could work out for Mike.
Would have rather it be Phil, but no choice to but to roll with Pringles now. |
