Am i the only one happy about this? I thought that if we hired Phil, we'd go back to everyone thinking too much, and Nash being left out...With Pringles, Nash controls the offense and let's him put everyone in the right spot!
The defense will be just fine. Pringles will actually have players that are pretty good defenders to go along with Dwight.
nash controlling the offense is a proven loser and marginalizes our best player into a spot up shooter.
Proven loser? They kicked Kobe's ass a few straight years, didn't they?
Joe Johnson was pretty damn good playing with Nash.
WHO WAS ON KOBES TEAM AGAIN!!????
WHO does Nash have on his team now? Kobe, Dwight, Gasol, Artest. You serious?

Almost makes me think the Dunleavy thing was a fabrication to make this hire seem not as bad. Dammit, they should have at least contacted Sloan if Phil was such an impossible acquisition.

Except with these guys, might be 14 seconds. But hey! It'll be the same thing right?
Pick and roll, drive and kick... to metta, ebanks, kobe, meeks... automatic baby!!!
We don't need no stinking defense!!! We will outscore the opponents! No more tacos, but hey, showtime is back! _________________ We expect a championship. In spite of Mike Brown.
So they didn't even meet him fact to face? Jim is such a moron.
I hope he knows what the fan base thinks of him. Moron. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts!

I can't help but think not much will change. We will see ton of pick and rolls, we'll keep the offense simple. The problem with D'antoni in NY was that he never had a PG till Lin, who then proceeded to explode in the offense till Melo came back and took the ball and went home.
The Lakers actually WANT Nash to dominate the ball and give them open shots. Both our bigs are fantastic at PnR and don't rely on Iso's. MWP isn't here for his offense, he should fit in no problem. Kobe is kobe. He can play in any offense and his role isn't changing much from the Princeton where he wasn't dominating the ball as much anyways. He's been efficient and just taking over when needed.
My only concern, like all of you, is the defense. We have got to spend time on defense and let them use their natural ability to play offense and learn the system slowly. Focus on D, hang your hat on that early to WIN games. Right now any simple offense can win us games that focuses our Bigs.

I'm open to give Pringles a chance before we write him off.
D'Antoni never had an anchor like D12. He had no-D Amare.
I think that's a fair point. It will be interesting to see how much better a Dantoni defense is with a big man who loves to play D. _________________ If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;

Was listening to Mason and Ireland yesterday. They said Jerry likes the idea of bringing "Showtime" back. With Phil, it's a slow half court game. This is Jerry's call all the way. Big decisions like this are made by the big boss. He wanted Showtime. So don't blame Jim on this one!

lol no. Kobe will do whatever he wants in any system. You fail to understand D'Antoni's philosphy. He is more than just pnr and run n gun. You really believe he's going to do what he did with Phoenix with a 39 yr old Nash?
That's insulting Mike D'Antoni's intelligence. He is an assistant coach for the U.S olympics team. Jim Buss would not sign a coach kobe did not approve of. You know KOBE can run pick and roll also, he did it the whole game vs Kings tonight.
Kobe will play iso ball when it is necessary he always does, and it would be stupid to limit him to spot up shooting.
D'Antoni had Carmelo and amare and what did he do...let jeremy lin run the show to the tune of like 8 straight losses and getting fired. He's obsessed with that BS system.
