Mark Jackson said he didn’t think Ezeli committed a flagrant on Blake: “He’s a great actor. I’ve seen those Kia commercials.”
If he isn't fined for that one, I don't know what warrants a fine. _________________ Jeffs

The thing I read said that embellishing contact would not generate a fine. It is basically only a fine if you flop when you aren't touched.
Blake made this play a lot more dangerous than it needed to be but it was the right call in my opinion. Reminded me a lot of Darius yesterday.
Would love to see a link to what you supposedly read, because according to the clips the NBA released prior to the start of the season, it's 100% incorrect. _________________ Jeffs

It was the write up on the NBA website that went along with the video clips they showed of which "flops" would be fined and which ones wouldn't be. On the non-fines, they acknowledged that the players embellished the contact but said it wasn't a violation because there really was contact there.

Looks like he hit his shoulder and then his head. He flops a lot but this wasn't one of them.
You're taking the contrarian angle a little too far now... _________________ Jeffs

Not only do they not say that, but they specifically state that they will fine players for "gross over-embellishment" during games. _________________ Jeffs

I read over it again and watched the clips and see what you are saying but I still think this one falls into that second group. He is grabbed from behind and no play is made on the ball. The foul is only more violent looking because he tried to go up strong even though he was being held and that was a dangerous move on his part. Not a flop at all in my opinion but we'll see what the league says.

Not being contrarian. Just can't imagine how anyone could possible consider this to be a flop. A player grab Griffin's arm as he was going by, his legs went up in the air, and he landed hard on the ground. To me it looked like his shoulder hit and then his head or neck right afterwards. It's hard to tell because of the angle of the shot, but if you freeze the frame at the 17 second mark it looks like his head is striking the floor with his neck twisted at an odd angle.
Oh, I never argued that his head didn't hit the floor. It absolutely did. You could see it from multiple angles. However, I think the reason his head hit the ground is because he exaggerated the contract to such a degree that he lost his balance and nearly fell head first into the floor. While the irony of him getting hurt while flopping would've been quite amusing, I'm glad he didn't break his neck. There's no way that play warranted a flagrant though. _________________ Jeffs
