4/28: Lakers made the playoffs, but got swept in 4 by the Spurs.

I'd like to thank all the members who helped with this thread and supplied content and analysis in the chase for a playoff spot. WolfPacLaker and the members who were providing the playoff seeding scenarios in the last few week.

Thanks everyone.

Better luck next year

Rockets down 11 at half-time to the Bobcats... if they loss that game they go under 500 which leads the Lakers to snatching that 8th/7th spot.... but I do not have faith that this team cares at this point.

It's funny, if this team had any courage/will and went on a 15 game winning streak we would be fighting for the 5/6 seed but I doubt this team will win more then they lose.

I just finished watching that game the refs did a number on the Bobcats in the fourth quarter it was absolutely amazing.

Yeah, and it's not like the Bobcats are a big-market were the Vegas odds forces the Refs to favor another team..... imagine if Kobe got all the calls like Harden does... he would have already passed Kareem in career-points.

It's absurd how many calls Harden gets in his favor.

I almost threw my remote at the TV when Delfino flopped and they called the charge on Henderson. Harden precede to go down court two plays later runs over Walker blocking foul.

That's not funny at all. That's just an inane, useless, substanceless comment.

Hope for the Lakers: 16 teams in last 25 years have made the playoffs after winning 17 or fewer games in first 42.

Just getting the 8th seed this season is equivalent of winning the championship this year for the Lakers.

Panic-inducing stat of the day for Lakerland: Elias says 107 teams in West started 17-24 or worse in last 25 seasons. Only 4 made playoffs

"Hope for the Lakers: 16 teams in last 25 years have made the playoffs after winning 17 or fewer games in first 42."

I first read this as "16 teams of the last 25 teams [who have started 17-25 or worse]"

and thought "oh, that's not so bad."

teams/years is impossible to appreciate. Stein has the better stat -

it's safe to say none of those teams will get 48 wins. i think 45 is safe for 8th place

Good thread, p.k.

I think it takes 44 wins, 45 to be sure.

Number I'm looking at is 24-13 at minimum. Including these recent 3 wins, that's 27-13 to close season.

And we really need Houston and utah to play no better than they have so far. Then 44-45 wins should be enough. Going to need help from them as well.

Actually, we need only one of them to play no better...
