FYI - During the ABC broadcast yesterday they said if Dwight gets 1 more flagrant foul 1 or 2 he will be suspended for 1 game. I think there is a point system and you are allowed 6 points. He has 5 points right now. It's very likely to happen. He seems to get frustrated easily and does dumb stuff.

Like forearming JJ Barea to the ground when the game was already over.....no wait. Wrong center.

I can't remember all the incidents. He has 5 points against him. I think the Flagrant 2 against Faried was 2 points. I guess he has 3 Flagrant 1's totaling 3 points.

He needs to clear his record. Find a sure win (OK, we can dream) and get a flagrant at the end of the game prior.

I might be wrong on the points. I found this on nba.com from 2010.

Quote:
Rules and regulations: Flagrant Fouls

The following is a summary of rules and regulations regarding flagrant fouls, technical fouls, elbow fouls and other player conduct issues.

A. Flagrant Foul Rules
There are two types of Flagrant Fouls, as follows:

Flagrant "1" (FFP1) - unnecessary contact committed by a player against an opponent. The opposing team is awarded two (2) free throws and possession.

Flagrant "2" (FFP2) - unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent. The opposing team is awarded two (2) free throws and possession and the player committing the foul is automatically ejected.

Any player who commits two Flagrant "1" Fouls in the same game will be automatically ejected from that game.

In addition, in order to address the problem of repeat offenders, the following three-point system will be in effect during the 2010 Playoffs:

• Flagrant "1" = 1 point

• Flagrant "2" = 2 points

A player will receive the points set forth above for each flagrant foul committed during the Playoffs. If the player's Playoff total exceeds 3 points, he will receive an automatic suspension following the game in which his point total exceeds 3 points and for each additional flagrant foul committed during the Playoffs, as follows:

Player at 2 points commits a FFP2: automatic one-game suspension

Player at 3 or 4 points commits a FFP1: automatic one-game suspension

Player at 3 or 4 points commits a FFP2: automatic two-game suspension

Player at 5 points or more commits a FFP1 or FFP2: automatic two-game suspension

Which player would we all like to see Dwight hit on his next flagrant?

Jason Terry sounds like a good target.

No. For being a Laker, that's automatically 2 points. If the team is a "superteam," then add 1 more.

Terry and Lawson are good candidates. A couple years ago Bynum busted up Lawson's shoulder and put him out of commission for a month. I wouldn't mind seeing him take out Pierce or Garnett either.

They guy is out there. I remember against Memphis he threw a player to the floor on a rebound attempt and then looked at the ref like he was crazy when he called a foul on him.

i have 2 things to say here.

#1 half of his techs are BAD calls. that resulted from previous no calls. you cant allow these guys to hang all on his arms and pull at him, and not call the foul. but also not expect him to shake guys off.

#2. the way he's shooting ft's. and the way gasol is balling. wouldnt bother me one bit if he went ahead and got that last one to reset it(it does reset doesnt it?)

I could be wrong but I thought I heard that he had only 1 flagrant foul in his whole career before this year. I haven't verified that. Hard to believe. Seems like he has a short fuse this year. Maybe because of the frustration coming back from back surgery.

Don't think it resets, it is a 2-game suspension for every flagrant 1 or 2 after 5 points.

Edit: I see where Howard has 3 flagrants, but it doesn't distinguish between F1 and F2 fouls.

And for those who claim Kobe gets no love, he is the only player tied with the lead of 9 technicals without a disqualification.

what happens if he gets a flagrant 1, and gets suspended... then does he get another 6 points until he is suspended again?

also, does this # reset in the begining of the playoffs?

Nope, He gets one more chance at a flagrant 1 for only 1 game suspension. Once he is at 7 points, he ends up getting 2 game suspensions for each flagrant 1 or 2.

Okay. He probably is at 5 points right now based on that updated list.

Quote:
Player at 5 or 6 points commits a Flagrant 1 foul: automatic 1 game suspension
Player at 5 or 6 points commits a Flagrant 2 foul: automatic 2 game suspension

Don't know about the playoffs, but from what was posted above, 2-game suspension for every flagrant over 5 points. So another F1 would be 6 points and a suspension, another F1 would be 7 points and a suspension and so on.

The list also indicates he had at least one regular foul call upgraded by the league after the game.

They want him in the game for tickets/ratings, but that doesn't mean they call the fouls IN GAME accurately. Obviously, they don't.

Also, he is the only player suspended for "unnatural basketball acts", even though several other players have done the same thing.
