I finished it and it was very engaging, even though it was pretty clear from the beginning what was going to happen. No matter what the confrontation, no matter what the crisis, the Underwoods always come ahead. It helps that all their enemies are morons. The show is so predictable, so deliberate in its approach, I really hope the 3rd season will be the last season.

Anyway, Frank is president now. I have a feeling Rachael will play a role in his downfall somehow. However, Jackie seems to be best positioned to bring down the Underwoods. She's ruthless and smart enough. Everybody else is either too stupid, or too nice, or too parasitic. Secretary of State Durant sure knew how to change sides as soon as she saw what Frank was doing.

Even though this is a show and we shouldn't take it too seriously, what bothered me about the last few episodes is how incredibly low Walker's approval ratings were. There is no way a president's approval ratings would ever sink to the single digits (Congress is different because people vote for their congressman but don't vote for Congress as a whole, so it's a different dynamic, hence why we've seen single digits approval ratings for Congress recently). There are just too many ideologues that would support "their" president no matter what. Presidents have faced much more serious scandals in the recent past and it never went that low. The writers could have kept it in the mid 20s and they would have made the same point, which was that Walker's popularity was plummeting.

I agree that the show is somewhat predictable in what was going to happen by the end (of season 2), but its not about the end result, its what Frank did to get there. Obviously we're watching a show of him rising to power and taking out any/all competitors. You couldn't have predicted HOW Frank became the president, and that's what the story really is about.

I don't think that the other members of congress are either "too stupid, or too nice, or too parasitic" for this show. I watch it to see Spacy dominate these people and in order to do that, these people have to go down somehow or other. For entertainment's sake it's brilliant.

That being said I really had to suspend belief especially when the Vice President stepped down from office, and when Zoey's death was ruled an accident. I mean, everything leading up to her "falling" in, clearly talking to someone in the shadows, was ignored by the investigation. In the end I liked the decision to kill her off because it made Frank even more diabolical and was truly a shocking moment. Her story had peaked and I'm glad they didn't draw it out to make her Frank's enemy, which might have made me start to dislike her. The President being impeached was also very rushed, the writers probably could of handled that better like you said.

I thought the most interesting subplot was with Doug. He looks dead but maybe he's not?

I agree with most people on here that the show is predictable. I'm still mad they killed Zoey so soon and featured Lucius. The least interesting of the three.

And if they kill off Doug, I'll be mad. I'll be left only with Remy as enjoyable secondary characters. It's interesting how they'll take the show forward. I want to believe the Rachel submit takes him down but she also stands to lose by her assault and potential murder of Doug (Assuming he's dead) and grand theft auto. I just can't see that being the way he goes down although I do think he does.

For me, the most upsetting part of the whole season is Doug's apparent death. I don't know why but i really liked his character, and I'm still bummed about it! Rachel is not going to last long in Season 3.

They probably researched his past or just did a really good job of manipulating his drunk, loyal and docile persona.

Hardly. They prefaced it in the episode he returned to his college, that Frank had had a homosexual relationship and then they showed him flirting with Meachum over beers.

Well, hinting at a previous homosexual relationship and flirting with Meachum (which apparently I missed) was a huge jump to the threesome. It caught me off guard, as it probably did to the majority of people who watched the show.

yeah.. that threesome was left field.

the season started off great.. then took a left turn.

The president stepping down without a fight seemed so implausible to me. Think about when Clinton got impeached.. he still fought to stay president..by the end of it I was rolling my eyes. Still enjoy the show.. but its no Breaking Bad for sure.

It was hit into left field by a switch hitter.

If this is how congress is than these people are worst than the sopranos, Walter white, and the governor combined. It's scary to think if congress really behaves this way.... if that's true these guys are the true gangstas

btw I like this show I just caught up on the second season

and I had accidentally skipped the episode before that.... so I was even more surprised (if possible).

Great show, though!

Finally finished season 2. Amazing show. Breaking Bad meets politics.

I must say though, for me at least the political terminology, was a bit confusing at first. I found myself wikipedia'ing quite a bit. However after 2 or 3 episodes it was smooth sailing. I'd say it was worth it.

What I'm looking forward to in Season 3 (SPOILERS):

1) How long will Rachel last? Will Frank's demise be a result of a prostitute?

2) Hacker dude seems to be the biggest threat. Doug's dead, so who's left to fulfill Hacker's demands?

3) It seems he alienated Cathy towards the season 2 finale by revoking Feng's asylum, I wonder if there will be more of this to come and we see Cathy changing sides.

4) Remy and Jackie... Since Remy ended up refusing to testify, is he still going to be of use to Jackie. They had a thing once before, but Jackie is so incredibly cold I could see her leaving him out to dry. Jackie is also a very large threat to Frank.

Hopefully the wait for season 3 will be worth it.

Finished season 2 last night. This show is (bleep) ing fantastic. I never thought I'd find any television show compelling after Breaking Bad, but I was completely wrong. Can't wait to start season 3 on Friday!

I love the aspect of every episode being released on the same day. Binge watching a TV show is so much more entertaining than having to wait for a release of an episode week after week.

I wonder what the show is going to be about now though since he has pretty much already schemed his way to the top.

I'm sure new characters will be introduced. But there are some loose ends.

Will the billionaire Tusk get revenge?
Will Rachel (the hooker who knows too much) get spotted by the public?
Is Doug alive?
Plus that hacker Gavin could cause problems as well.

I would imagine that this last season shows the demise of Frank.

That'd be disappointing if this upcoming season is the last one. I saw a good analogy on another site that compared the show with an actual deck of cards. 13 cards(episodes) per suit, 4 suits(seasons).

I believe it was already pre-determined there would only be 3 seasons.

Really? That's unfortunate. Hopefully this one is amazing then.

Hmm.. if that was the case, wouldn't they advertise it as the final season? Unless they already are and I'm living in a cave?

A house of cards must necessarily crash and burn. It'll be fun to watch him lose his power
