When I try to open http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=153965&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25 Google Chrome goes berserk.

Quote:

Content from www.freeimagehosting.net, a known malware distributor, has been inserted into this web page. Visiting this page now is very likely to infect your computer with malware.

I got the warning yesterday on my phone as well. I deleted the avatar at issue and asked the user to select another. Hopefully that will take care of it. Let me know if it still happens.

drzucchini 's avatar is also giving the malware error, because his image comes from freeimagehosting.net . It is not harmful by itself, but the website where it comes from is labeled as harmful, which is why it gives a (false) warning.

Get a Mac. They are less susceptible to the standard viruses...

To fix the issue with reading PnP's post, you need to gouge your eyes out. A MAC won't help.

I haven't gotten them here, but I've been getting them at other sites I regularly visit (and never had a problem in the past). Maybe they did a Google Chrome update.

I haven't gotten any today, but I remember getting some in the past. When I did, it was because of a site on which someone's avatar was hosted. That website was flagged as a potential malware source by Chrome and I couldn't view any thread that user posted in just because of his avatar.

Yeah, I'm getting that same warning about cm.netseer.com.

DB or Exick: Could this be ad related? Last time it was someone's avatar.

I'm guessing an ad issue. I don't have avatars enabled, plus I was getting the error on the forum listing page.

Almost always, it's from someone's avi being hosted on a site Chrome doesn't like. Can you let me know what thread you are getting these from?

Wasn't a thread, it was always in the forum listing. Would pop up a few seconds after the page rendered. Wasn't consistent though. For instance, I'm not getting it right now.

Nevermind. There's a whole article breaking on this today:

http://www.insidebayarea.com/breaking-news/ci_22515729/malware-warning-citing-netseer-blocks-google-chrome-users

Apparently not a risk and it looks like the problem is solved. The malware was not on the ad network, but on the company's site, which had been hacked. They share the same domain for their ad server, but those are different which makes sense, and Google flagged that. So it should be fine.
