I was wrong on my earlier prediction, I'd say around X-Mas. Those old bones of Kobe don't heal as fast as they once did. Getting old sucks...

Kobe and I are the same age.

Same here.

I honestly hope he sits the year out. Not because I want us to tank, though. I just want him at 100%. He's 35 and coming off of the most serious injury of his career. We'll be much more primed to make a push back into contention next season, anyways. Kobe or no Kobe, we aren't going to accomplish anything this year.

So why not just be safe?

What's a good recent timetable, from "cleared for practice" to on the court playing regular games, to compare with Kobe's recovery? i guess Billups? Maybe Bynum? (definitely not Rose)

I think he'll be back in time before the Christmas game, but the ASB is more realistic at this point.

I just hope Kobe comes back when he is physically ready to play basketball. I don't want to see him trying to get in shape during games, just because I worry that he will end up with a knee, hip, or back injury from overcompensating if his leg is not full strength. I'm more worried about his last couple of years than this season.

Because he needs to play.

He'll be beyond rusty and at his age, with his mileage, who knows what he would have left at that point.

Dog Days

Dog Days are typically the last few weeks before the All Star Break. If Dog Days are happening a mere ten games into the season...we have a problem.

We're 4-7. I think that's a problem.

I love my lakers more than anything. But I don't think this team is among the playoffs even with Kobe back. Just too little top level talent and Pau is struggling with injuries and age.

I would love to be proven wrong but that's my honest assessment as of now.

+1.

So many people around here are so willing to go through the humiliation of a season being a bottom-feeder team. I honestly hope that if we have one of the worst records, that we get screwed and get a bad pick and/or bust. Would serve some of you on here right.

Kobe has said: once he can go 3 weeks without any limitations and practice hard, he'll play. He has yet to start day 1 of those 3 weeks. So every day you hear of no progress, it means that it's at least another 3 weeks. No more, no less.
