He looked like he was high during the workout. How do you air ball a lay up?

Upsets me. Had lottery talent and is throwing it away. I think he took his hoop dreams for granted. Now he may be undrafted.

DraftExpress currently has BJ Young slipping to the 2nd round to our pick...His game reminds me of Monta Ellis who also went in the 2nd round..Could be a big steal

I need some more time before I start organizing a draft list and gathering information, then I'll rank guys in draft order of priority.

There is talent to be had at #48, whether it's a project like Ennis, or a polished, character, work ethic player like Wolters.

The Los Angeles Lakers met with Nate Wolters and Adonis Thomas among other prospects on the first day of the combine.

Mike your thoughts on Thomas and Wolters? Any chance they can contribute at the next level?

Guys like Nate Wolters are highly likeable. He already has NBA level work ethic and it's proven with his ball-handling and spot up shooting in drills. Athleticism is a question mark, but guys who work that hard and play as a 6'3" PG are difficult for me to dislike. Defense will be a question, but he likens himself to Dragic with high PnR play and spot up shooting. If that's the case, he should make himself an effective NBA player.

Adonis Thomas is the opposite. Considered one of the top SG recruits a few years ago, he's had a few disappointing seasons in Memphis. All the physical tools are there. About 6'5". 7'1" Wingspan. Massive PF/C hands. Solid athletic ability. He needs to develop his skill level and he's gotten away with athleticism at the HS level, but he's another project player, like James Ennis, who can develop into a solid role player. He's got solid ball-handling skills on straightline drives, but relies on a stutterstep to change direction. He hasn't shown the ability to change direction on the fly. It's like watching Devean George with a quicker Ron Artest frame. He is that strong. He is that physical. Nice stroke on his jumpshot even if the percentages don't show it as well.

If you're asking if he can be a Kawhi Leonard or Danny Green, the answer is yes. The difference between Leonard and Green is the maturity and work ethic to fit within a role with the team, but in terms of physical tools, across the board between the three players, it's all there.

Interesting that you like Muscala.

When I watched him in the tourney he was surprisingly mobile, but I don't know if he is going to be able to handle the physicality of the NBA. He's going to need to hit the weights hard. And continue to develop his perimeter game.

The new wave NBA runs through big PGs and high post players. Muscala has the size and skill, even if he can't muscle around in the paint and throw people around. Excellent foundation of triple threat skills and post play for a C out of college. Spin moves, jumphooks, midrange jumpshots to 18', straight line drives. Solid passer. Skills we wish D12 had.

If he's anything like Chris Kaman, Marc Gasol, etc., he's a solid pick. I still remember Kaman's best years as a Clipper. Usually that combination of size, mobility, and skill warrants a lottery pick.

Thing is he doesn't have the bulk of guys like Kaman and Gasol. If he wants to play center he is going to have to spend serious time in the weight room.

Do you think he has the athletic ability to play the 4 spot?

I like Muscala a lot, despite him being from a small school, he should be mentioned in the 1st round consistently.

I liked Ledo. He looked like a poor man's Kobe in high school.

No. But he has the ability to play the high post at the 5. No different from Marc Gasol.

Didn't have a great day today. Wasn't hitting shots.

Neutral or dropping
Caldwell Pope
BJ Young
Ledo

Rising
Canaan
Rice
Adams
Larkin
Paul
Iverson
Hardaway
Leslie
Gobert
MItchell

Keep in mind, this isn't about pure athleticism. Combine numbers are just a metric to see what goes behind the basketball ability.

However, this is the most athletic draft class I've ever seen, especially in regards to 40" verts and lateral agility.

The big athletic numbers always have an impression on NBA scouts/GMs minds when drafting, so even when players have perceived less basketball ability, upside will be accounted for. But when other players rise, legit basketball players that have proven it all year and still have plenty of upside still slip.

#48 can still be a high quality pick. This is a deep draft of late 1st round/early 2nd round talents.

I gotta say I'm going low risk medium reward, Colton Iverson based on everything. Just seems like a extremely solid backup big the 2nd team never had to set picks, get boards and is fairly efficient around the rim. You can have your athletes but a lot of them under performed for a very good reason, and mostly its because of lack of effort. This guy works. Think Madsen but bigger. Effort guys help your team when everything else fails.

C.J. Leslie 10.19 lane agility drill. Fastest at the combine and he's 6'9. 40 inch vertical too. I think he can be a 3 in the NBA.

I think so. Eventually. He has nice form on his jump shot.

Awful shooter. Not everyone can be fixed. Just like Ebanks shooting wise.
