I feel like I just watched someone TRULY give 100%. Not the BS I'm-gonna-give-a-110%-just-like-everyone-else-says platitudes, but someone that went until he just....broke. - GT
He stayed home from school today and I got to spend a lot of time with him.
- we did math (and he hit me with 2 Dwights = 1 Kobe)
- I taught him how to play Sudoku (he picked it up in five minutes)
- more math (primes and composites)...we learned why 1 is not a prime, and he figured out that all evens > 2 cannot be prime.
- went to the park in the evening to practice baseball
- did some basketball too, he made a ton of baskets with a regulation ball today (he is a little guy, and has been struggling to even get the ball to the rim)...so big deal.
I really think school is kind of a waste of time for him. He's not challenged at all, and they don't build on his advanced skills at all. He's easily 3-4 grades ahead in math, and there is nothing the school will do for him. So I teach him a lot at home.
It's hard to balance work with spending time with him, but it's really worth it because he responds really well to the individual attention.
