...obviously, our chances of winning are extremely slim. but did anyone stop to think that if we did somehow miraculously win, chances are we'd be amnestying Kobe and never bringin' him back? on top of that, the headlines would be horrendous, i cant even begin to imagine what it would do to Kobe's legacy....when it comes down to it, NOTHIN gets put above the Lakers winning, but there will be some major consequences to us winning this season, unlike any other. anyone ever thought of it like this?

They are not going to LaronProfit him like that.

17+ years of loyalty doesn't usually mean getting kicked to the curb unless you're Elgin Baylor. But that's only on the other side of the hallway.

if we win the championship without him, everyone and their mama would be talkin bout how theres no logical reason to bring him back at such a steep price, how we're "better without him", how he "holds the lakers offense back", etc. etc....obviously, this is very unlikely to happen, but when we root for it, we gotta realize that'll come with us winning.

You're really stretching to find something to be alarmed about. "If we miraculously win a title this year, we might decide to amnesty Kobe because the media would be saying that he is overpaid." Come on now.

I think they are on the record saying that they will not amnesty him.

Switch around the "am" and "I" in your sentence.

Are you wrong to get so worked up imaging a far-fetched scenario -- not if it's fun for you!

Are you wrong to care about Kobe's legacy? -- again, your business; personally I barely think about my own legacy and I sure don't care about anyone else's!

Are you wrong that if the Lakers win a ring they'd amnesty Kobe -- No idea; I don't pretend to be able to predict the future.

Are you wrong to think anyone will discuss this with you seriously -- yes, you're probably wrong about that.

Why would they dump Kobe just because they got a chip? He is still their top meal ticket.

If the Lakers win the championship this year, instead of worrying about Kobe's future with the team, I think the bigger issue is dealing with the flames of hell freezing over.

It's probably a moot point regarding this scenario but I doubt very much we amnesty Kobe for any reason other than him not being able to play for a year. Considering he's already getting into a walking boot it seems he's coming along nicely time-table wise.

Does it hurt Kobe's legacy if we win one without him? Not really it just adds to the careers/legacies of those who helped us win it. Furthermore as much as I love Kobe I'm a Laker fan first, so why even worry about it? If we somehow win a championship this season that helps the Lakers legacy first and foremost.

You're not wrong... The media will definitely eat that up.

But I don't think there's a chance in hell the Lakers part ways with Kobe unless for some reason he can't recover enough to play at an acceptable level.

absolutely zero chance they amnesty him still imo...

obviously this team isn't going to have no chance of going that far anyways unless someone suddenly starts pouring it on consistently offensively but i def. agree if some magical way they did win it all the media would eat it up and they'd probably spend much more time talking about the fate of kobe then the actual championship...

the only way i could see that having a chance of happening is if kobe himself said he wanted to be gone which obviously isn't going to happen...
