Who do you guys think would win?
My first instinct is to say Bruce Lee, but I think Jet Li would beat Bruce. _________________ I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce! |

What kinda environment are we talking about here? Just a straight up street fight where there isn't any objects to use to their advantage? Or are we throwing these guys into some kinda housing/apartment facility where there are tables, chairs, doors, and other household objects such as refridgerators etc...
If we are putting these guys in the 1st type of environment I'd take Bruce Lee over Jet Li (but not by much). I think in a street fight Bruce Lee or Jet Li would destroy Jackie Chan. But if we are talking about the 2nd type of setting then Jackie Chan would win hands down b/c the guy would use everything including the kitchen sink to his advantage and the guy is jus so damn agile that in that kinda evironment Bruce or Jet would never be able to get him in an open area to take advantage. |

On a sidenote...There was an episode of Howard Stern when he had Chuck Norris on and Howard Stern asked him who he thought could take him in a fight. Chuck mentioned Bruce Lee probably could. They also asked Chuck if Jean Claude Van Damme would put up a good fight and Chuck said he would kick Van Damme's ass. The only other guy he mentioned that could hang with him would be Steven Seagal.
I'd agree with Chuck Norris on this one. Steven Seagal can't act but I would not wanna mess with him. |

Bruce Lee didn't rely on wires all the time like Jet Li does. Bruce's Jeet Kune Do is the real deal. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Any man who could come up with his own martial art, name it something that loosely translates into "The Way of the Intercepting Fist", have it still practiced and taught throughout the world decades after his death, AND be that physically cut and strong at a mere 5'7", without CGI or wires -- THAT MAN is the real deal.
RIP, Dragon.

from all the stuff i've read and seen about bruce, he used to interrupt shooting even on film sets when fighters would come and challenge him. ive read eyewitness accounts that he kicked everybody's ass including fighters that outweighed him too..... _________________ "Everybody on a championship team doesn't get publicity, but everyone can say he's a champion."-- Earvin Magic Johnson |

Actually, back when he was young, he was formidable.
That said, Bruce Lee by far.
Does anyone remember when they were kids in the mid to late 70's, watching Bruce Lee movies on KTLA 5 in LA...I remember how we all believed he was superhuman... |

Probably Jet, because Bruce is deceased. That's a real disadvantage in competition. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |

Jet Li is a skilled martial artist but come on, that's like saying who'd win in 1:1 bball, Jordan at his peak or Bron (right now).
The fact that Bruce is deceased is the only advantage Jet has... RIP Bruce. |

Wouldn't even be close. Jet Li fights for the camera. Bruce got in fights, just to kick peoples' asses and prove he was the best. As mentioned, the guy used to interupt filming, to take on the latest guy feeling up to the challenge. He was also a street punk, in his earlier days and spent a majority of the time, getting into fights. Anyone and everyone that met him face-to-face in combat, said he was the baddest mofo they'd ever come across. |

Oh come on, is this a serious question?
Jet Li practices Wu-Shu. A made for stage martial art. It's exaggerated body positions, and off-balance strikes look impressive but would be a serious detriment in a real fight. Jet Li did accomplish quite a bit in martial arts before he became a movie star, but even himself said that Bruce would absolutely KILL him. Then again it would've never happened because Jet wouldn't have been crazy enough to challenge Bruce to fight. Now Lidell might be crazy enough to challenge, and in 2 minutes he'd be carried out on a stretcher.
Here's a decent thread on the matter.

I kind of lost interest in this thread when I first posted it, but I'd like to add this. Jet Li definitely practiced Wu-Shu, but you left out that he also practiced Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi. By the age of 17, Jet Li was a 5 time World Champion of Kung Fu. He was a prodigy that toured with Shaolin masters around China. He was beating people who were twice his age and winning trophies for them. So for you to discount Jet Li and say that his moves are only for the big screen is disrespectful to him when that is far from the truth.
Anyway, I just wanted to see what people thought. Like I said originally, I thought Bruce Lee would win, but I'm leaning a bit towards Jet Li because he has the talent and he practices every day. I think the myth of Bruce Lee is actually greater than the person. It'd be pretty even imo if they both went up against each other. _________________ I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce! |

Hmm...I thought Jet Li specialized in forms exhibitions, and not actual combat? _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

From Jet Li's official website:
"Contrary to popular myth, Jet never trained at the Shaolin Temple. At the time Jet was training in wushu (late 60's and early 70's) there were no "fighting monks" living at the Shaolin Temple."
