Hey guys,

A pretty funny interview with Byron Scott mostly talking about Mychal Thompson. I didn't know these two didn't get along and was involved in a boxing match.

Also, Magic Johnson can't swim!

Aired 4-12-1989 on the Laker road pregame show hosted by Roy Firestone. Byron keeps it real regarding Mychal Thompson, calling him an Oreo after Mychal T says Scott was once a member of the Crips. Mychal T refers to quote by former Dodgers GM Al Campanis that black men aren't noted swimmers because they are not buoyant in water; a comment that forced him to resign from his position. Firestone laughed at the joke pretty hard. Scott concludes the interview with his Stevie Wonder impression. Yes, this is a weird one. PS: There is a behind-the-scenes story of Byron and Mychal T having a boxing match refereed by Kareem. The match took place after Mychal T announced that he could outbox anyone on the team (sounds like something he'd say). When asked about this years later, all of their Laker teammates say Byron pummeled Mychal thoroughly. Thompson was asked about this match on radio a few years ago and he denied everyone else's version of the story. Around the same time, Byron was asked about it and he confirmed that he indeed took care of business. It appears that Byron finally had enough of Mychal T's gibberish.

Lol. It was all in fun.

That team was so tight. Remember seeing a roundtable with them 15-20 years later and nutten' but love.

Fun interview to watch.

I always wondered what happened to Roy Firestone. I didn't realize he was such an performer and vocal impressionist.

Is this the interview where he says something to the effect that he'll break some bones if anybody forces him into the pool?

Mychal kicked a 14 foot great white shark and it swam away in terror.

I'mma post a short vid soon from the charity Summer game. Magic vs Coop from the arc to the rim, 1:1, for keeps, the other 8 players cleared out. We're gonna find out who wins that offensive/defensive stand. Who you got?

And Manute throws it out of bounds. Manute says to the guy he threw it too "hey you're too manute to throw it to, you're too small".

I guess it isn't that unbelievable, though I suppose 14 feet is probably an exaggeration.

Gotta go with Buck!

I've never seen this, so it's pretty awesome to have some suspense when watching a "new" video of Magic.

B-Scott is a class act.....I hope he gets the Clipper job, he deserves to actually get some real talent to work with. He did a great job in New Jersey and New Orleans and then got a bad job in Cle and yet he still gave it his best. B-Scott is a HOF person.....

iirc CP3 loved Byron. It was some of the guys from the Nets team who hated Scott.

That team always used to prank each other, but I remember Byron and Mychael always talking trash. There was one particular interview, I remember Mychael claiming he could shoot better than Byron...

By far the best personality on that station. You can pair him up with the worst and it makes the show listenable. Like right now I think he's on with Ben Lyons and I'm still listening. I think I've heard him with Arash, Beto, Mark Willard and the show was still decent. Usually when those guys are on with anyone else, its awful.

He was way better than Mason and Marcellus when he was paired with their partners too. Oh and Willard and Shelburne are the worst.
