I am happy the majority of you realize that we SHOULD BE HAPPY we are not going to be lead by some Loser Man Child of a Clown.

We are spoiled by Kobe's will to win and fight to the very last second. As much as we complained about Shaq getting fat, he was all business when the game started.

Dwight in a full season NEVER SHOWED me an inkling of that KILLER INSTINCT. That get the "F" out of my way and let me take over desire.
That is NOT a Leader of a Championship team.

He is a SELF AGGRANDIZING immature baby that pouts when he is faced with the first sign of criticism.

Good riddance you LOSER.

I can see why some short sighted fans might be "relieved".

But the reality remains obvious. This is a huge set back. The Lakers are now looking at a 2014 Free Agency with a ton of cap space, but nothing that would be attractive to any FA who could really make a difference. Without Dwight, there's no reason for any elite FA to want to sign on with the Lakers. They sat back and watched as their "future" walked away and are all in on a horrible coach who lamely tries to mask his ineptitude by throwing his players under the bus.

I can't see how any rational person is relieved at this point. It makes no sense.

I am disappointed.....

..Disappointed that the Lakers couldn't sign and trade Howard for Bogut, Barnes, and if possible Klay...

Howard is a cancer, primadonna on the downside of his career (hell if Kobe kept playing past the next 2 years, he'd probably stay at an allstar level longer than Dwight will), he'll become Amare 2.0

The only good thing that this fiasco has shown us is how incompetent the lakers front office, especially JIM BUSS actually are.

I like it, I think this is the only thing that could have gotten them to re-build, although I'm not assuming they'll actually do it though.

Disappointed,

To this day as a laker fan, i have never seen a big time player, leave the team, even as a free agent, i mean if anything now i dont expect us the lakers to get close to WCF, or the finals anytime soon, The Jim Buss curse has officially taken shape

not a big deal. he's a defensive presence yes but not a great offensive player and not a go to player down the stretch.

that being said its pretty damn hard to replace what he DID bring.

This.

Prior to today, you never heard in NBA history a big time free agent take a gigantic paycut to leave the lifestyle, history, entertainment oppoortunities that come with being a laker.

Shaq was the last great big man the lakers had. He, ofcourse, had the balls enough to want to play for the most historic franchise in NBA history and add his name to the long line of greats to wear a laker uniform. It makes you appreciate Shaq for what he was to this organization

It is shocking to say the least that a big time coveted FA bolted away from the Lakers.

I think it's really sad that there's so many snob fans here that think the Lakers are above re-building the same way most teams have to re-build.

My trust in the laker management has grown even stronger. We can't be firing coaches just because Dwight says so. Thats the last person you want to be taking personnel advice from, that clown couldn't even make up his mind on where he wanted to play. From the way I see it, we get a chance to retool next year. We will have cap space to trade for who ever we want and sign whoever we want.

My personal life is so incredibly hellish, this whole clown saga seems like a joke to me right now.

disappointed that we couldn't get anything in return, but glad to see him leave. just couldn't stand the guy's demeanor. weird feeling this way after losing a player of his caliber, but i just couldn't stand the guy. and would definitely not miss his free throws

I don't really care, it would have been nice if he stayed, but heck with him gone it doesn't hurt in any way. He never showed me at least that he wanted to be a laker, and all he did was complain instead of being honored to play for this organization. So if he wants to be in Houston then by all means go to Houston i'm glad he isn't a laker if he is going to be so afraid of the pressure of being the main guy.
