Sources: The Los Angeles Lakers have offered Byron Scott their head coaching job. The two sides are now in negotiations.

No, X said that before the meeting. What it shows is how effective the Laker's presentation was.

It's hard to judge the effectiveness of the Lakers pitches this offseason , since we didn't get any of our top FA targets (melo, lebron, Pau, bosh, dirk ).

I think Melo's comment shows that the lakers front office functions at a much higher level than the narrative spread by the media suggests.

Melo obviously went into our meeting with very low expectations. I'm happy we exceeded that! But I can't call the meeting effective without feeling like a biased homer.

But as you've alluded to many times, VTF. You have sources most people don't. You probably know more than I do. Just my 2 cents.

I heard that the Lakers went into it with low expectations as well, and were happy that Melo considered the Lakers at one point.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Earl Clark. He is very versatile....the couple of weeks he played well for the Lakers I think he guarded positions 2, 3, 4 and 5. If he has continued to work on his game, maybe the Lakers could give him another chance.

Everyone knows how Mike Brown destroys promising careers and stifles players that are producing...GLOCK, Sessions, Earl Clark, Matt Barnes....did I leave out anyone?

Fixed for accuracy.

But he was also injured (maybe from playing a lot of minutes) which seemed to lead to is play deteriorating.

He wouldn't be a starter anyways....what other players are available anyways?

Lots of players are available, it doesn't mean we need to sign any of them. Mitch has said they are taking 13 to camp, that allows them to add once of their camp invites and leaves a spot open for a trade during the season.

Or how effective Melo's team was at leveraging at leveraging a max deal from New York while minimizing fan blowback (phew! thought we were gonna lose Melo for a second there! who cares what we're paying him!) or how ineffective his team was at leveraging an S&T to the Bulls at max money.

No, not really. But I realize you are incapable of posting anything positive.

i'm happy with our team...
a lot of it hinges on health, but i honestly think we have the right mix up vets and young guys to make a serious run at the playoffs and with scott in the mix i know these guys are going to know what it means to put on that golden armor...

scott will implement the right system for us to play good defense and we will be headed in the right direction...

HC: Byron Scott

PG: Lin/ Nash/ Clarkson
SG: Kobe/ Young
SF: Johnson/ Henry
PF: Boozer/ Randle/ Kelly
C: Hill/ Davis/ Sacre

the last move i would make is see if nash can convince marion to come for the vet min... if marion will take it, i would sign him and start him at SF...

Highly doubt he would even play for LA. He's near the end of his career and he will probably look to sign with a contender.

I think it will be a fun season. It will be nice if the backups actually backup starters this season after watching them start last season.

I edited your depth chart just a bit for better balance. I'm liking the pick and roll/pop combinations with Lin/Randle and Nash/Boozer off the bench. Scoring threats all game in Kobe/Young. Clarkson will also be a nice change of pace PG in certain game situations and in back to backs.

i could see young playing back up SF and henry playing back up SG... but i think if nash is healthy they'll want him in there with randle because he'll be able to set up the rookie more and get his confidence going...

nash/randle and lin/boozer...

of course i think it really will depend on who has chemistry in camp and in practice... if randle really clicks with lin then he might start if lin is starting, but who knows... if nash is healthy they might want to start him so he stays loose right after warm ups... so it might end up being nash and randle starting because nash has to start...

rotations will all play out in practice and training camp and now we have scott who will make all those decisions..

This is the one thing that is missing.

Buck George Karl! I can't stand his a$$! Keep it in the family. If you are a true Laker fan, you will throw your support at BScott. He will give it his all. Out of respect for the Laker brand, Kobe, Laker fans and most of all, the memory of Dr. Buss.
