There is a few reasons why, Mitch would say the goal is to win a championship... it's because there gonna have a opportunity to make a big trade during the season with Hill's contract and the possibility of Nash being healthy and playing well...... there is always a chance the Lakers become contenders next year....

Hill has a no trade clause. He isn't going to Boston unless he wants to.

Cavs trade Keith Bogans to the Philadelphia 76ers

Quote:
The Sixers will receive a 2018 second-round pick from the Cavs for taking on Bogans, whose $5.3 million salary this season and $5.5 million salary next season are fully unguaranteed.
The Cavaliers will get a protected 2015 second-round draft pick in return. The Cavaliers are expected to stay under the NBA's luxury-tax threshold and will create a $5.3 million trade exception in the process.

damn is mitch delusional

Yep...

Did they include all of what he said or take it out of context? I watched the press conference and it didn't come off as delusional.

That's the standard Laker goal every year.

Ding...Ding...Ding... We have a winner. If other fans would only watch the entire press conference I'm sure they would realize this. But instead most jump to conclusions to fast.

Nuggets after Alonzo Gee

The Denver Nuggets are actively pursuing free agent forward Alonzo Gee, sources with knowledge told RealGM.

Sucks.... I wish we had him on the training-camp roster... he would have been a solid starting SF.

Indeed, he has 2 season averages of over 10PPG... if you give him the proper minutes he can probably give you 13-14PPG in the right situation....... thankfully Price and Elington don't have a guaranteed contract so we can still get Gee if we want.

Well not so fast i think they are going to keep Price because Nash is question mark and so is Clarkson because he might be more of a SG than PG and he is a rookie. Ellington might be kept be we need a shooter and lost that when Meeks left, and Henry might not be ready to start the season, and the big reason limit kobes minutes cant having him burning out too soon in the season.

If the Lakers wanted another Meeks on the team offensively.... they could have easily signed Jordan Crawford..... the Lakers need a SF and a C more then they need a PG and a SG.

The issue in putting together the end of your roster is based on not just cost, but what the player does for you short and long term. Part of that is not stockpiling redundant pieces . Lakers have Kobe and young at the wing spots, and they added a needed shooting specialist in Ellington. They also have Wes, whom they feel could develop as their 3 and d small forward, and x, not to mention the likelihood of randle getting at least some spot minutes at 3. And that's before we talk about Kobe playing some 3, and clarkson and/or Lin or Nash playing some minutes at 2.

Gee is a bench 3, who has been very up and down, without tremendous ceiling. I'm sure la looked at him, but I think they like Wes and x as better ceilings, young as a better floor for what he does, and there simply isn't a lot of room to carry yet another 3 with little upside.

Boston waived guard Chris Babb, forwards Chris Johnson and Christian Watford.

Chicago signed guards Kim English, Ben Hansbrough and forward Solomon Jones.

I rather take my chances on someone who doesn't have tremendous ceiling but "PRODUCES" rather then a guy who supposedly has a ceiling but has a very inconsistent game.... the reality is that Gee would automatically become our best 3 on the roster..... you can't rely on guys like Wes/Henry who only looked remotely decent because last year's roster was a free for all ... circus.

Lakers have Xavier Nick and Wesley. Why do they need another small forward?

Gee doesn't actually consistently produce though. Very streaky. As a starter, he had below average efficiency on below average usage. Basically, even within a limited context, he couldn't produce much.

Michael Beasley Leaving Grizzlies To Play In China

October 9 at 1:30pm CDT By Chuck Myron
Michael Beasley is leaving the Grizzlies and will sign to play in China, agent Jared Karnes tells Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports (Twitter link). He’s set to join the Yao Ming-owned Shanghai Sharks, Wojnarowski adds (on Twitter). Beasley is on a non-guaranteed contract with Memphis, but the team has yet to formally release him.

Sources: Warriors, Klay remain millions apart on extension

Quote:

Thompson is seeking a max deal, or something close – at least $15 million per year – while the Warriors, according to sources, hover around $13 million per.

Kind of stupid of the Warriors to do this, unless they want the season to play out to see if he is hurt, etc. He's going to get a max thanks to the expected increase of the salary cap, so his current rookie max won't hurt as much down the road.

I agree because there are going to be teams next Summer with both sufficient Cap Space and a need for a SG like Klay.

His first choice is probably to stay with Golden State, but if a team like Philly offered the full Max, he might be tempted to take it.

Or if they're being real jerks: 1) see if he can be healthy this season; 2) have another team offer him a deal at 4 years, and with 4.5% raises rather than 5 years/7.5% raises. Klay's getting his max. It's just a question of when and under what circumstances.
