Last season was as good as it gets and only because he had the green light so his scoring was up. He still brought nothing in rebounding, passing, and defense.

Yeah he's pretty much just an LA personality now. Mitch probably re-signed him to try to get some fans excited.

Hope Kobe kicks his ass to ridiculous levels in practice.

He actually stated playing some decent defense in the 2md half of last season.

I would have preferred the Lakers pay a whole lot less money for Marshon Brooks who is a better, more talented player than Nick Young.

Had Mike D'Umtoni given Brooks solid minutes instead of giving Nick Young the minutes and green light to shoot at will... Brooks would have been retained giving the Lakers a much more reliable player and more money to spend elsewhere.

Another "failed move" by Jim Buss.

^ Then you'd have to chalk up a loss for the other 29 teams in the league lol.

There's a reason why he's still fighting to find a team to sign him.

He has his moments, sure. I remember a game where he took over and helped the Lakers to the victory but he's way too inconsistent for me.

Nick Young? You can almost pencil him in for 15 PPG off the bench.

Add in he was one of the few players who played with any real passion last season.

Young said playing alongside Kobe Bryant has made an even bigger difference for him personally.
http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/lakers/post/_/id/40107/drew-legend-young-looks-forward-to-season#more

"He's been great, really," Young said. "He's been like my mentor, really, right now. He's been calling, texting me, talking to me, motivating me. I think that's big. Growing up, who would have thought Kobe would be the one doing all that? I didn't ever think I'd be working out with Kobe or talking to him."

could the Lakers/Kobe view Young as having a bigger role than us fans expect? could he start?? start or not, he's getting big minutes/minutes in both units ,IMO

According to an interview with @miketrudell Byron Scott may keep Young as the team’s best option off the bench:

“I liked how he played and how he was giving full effort on the defensive end, and I really love his energy. He cared about winning. He changed his whole persona, what people thought of him. I’d never seen him play defense before. I also saw him being unselfish at times where he made passes. I do love Swaggy coming off the bench.” “Probably. He will play together with Kobe as well, but I do love his energy and firepower being able to score the ball off the bench.”

Whether due to the near-constant smile or some of his more embarrassing moments on the court, there are some that still don’t give Young the credit he actually deserves.

Even more SWAG: the importance of Swaggy P

Quote:
Every NBA team needs a player like Young who is willing to play hard, and make the game fun for the team.
Within the struggle of building a winner, a team must become one on the journey.
There’s no better way to make it all happen than keeping glue guys like Young around.

My own feelings reflect what Coach Scott said. I think that Nick brought it last season and assumed that it would earn him a big payday somewhere else. I am glad he stayed and can be that 6th man scorer off the bench.

Yeah he's pretty much just an LA personality now. Mitch probably re-signed him to try to get some fans excited.

Hope Kobe kicks his ass to ridiculous levels in practice.

Kobe WILL do just that!

Kobe might be the best thing that ever happened to Nick Young.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.
Swaggy will be challenged mentally & physically by the Mamba & he will become a better basketball player because of it.

Kobe has been working with Swaggy P all summer as well as Wesley Johnson. They've all been working out together.
