Wes was the most talented, and the best in spurts, but not overall. Simply didn't bring consistent effort or focus. |

Im actually surprised young is still on the team as badly as people talk about him. Still, I think most of the hate he gets is unwarranted and he should def contribute to wins this season. |

NICK YOUNG Launches 'Official Inquiry' TO JOIN AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC TEAM
Quote: | Nick Young wasn't joking around about wanting to compete for Australia's Olympic basketball team -- 'cause the NBA star's camp has formally contacted Aussie officials to get the ball rolling. Officials told us Nick would have to become an Australian citizen to be eligible for the team -- and the process was thoroughly explained to Young's camp. |

Not surprised. He's married to an Australian. There's a difference however between inquiry and change of citizenship. |

Agree.
So many players that have great talent just do not play every play on the court, effort and focus separate the great players from the average players. _________________ .....

The celebration after making that 3 was ridiculous, please getting all giddy for a veteran who never gives full effort during the season and seeing the reaction from LGers is just as ridiculous. Nick is not a player that I want to see playing with this young group of players, he is not a good influence. Lakers management gave him a lavish contract because they knew they had no good FAs in the bag. This situation of not having good FA's in the bag is a sign that is not Lakerish. I hope that this potpourri group that management has put together is able to produce. Kobe IMO is the one Laker that might be able to make a difference, not as a star player but as a star that can demand respect and get the young players to buy in.
This should be a very interesting season! _________________ .....

To their credit, the FO tried to shop him to fix the mistake of signing him to a long term deal. No takers even with his cap friendly contract is a reflection of what FOs around the league think about him. It's the same reason that McGee got a minimum contract and Blatche is out of the league. |

What I had my eye on was how he would react when Lou would put up shots. He passed the test. But he has to be more active off the ball. |

Nick looked good tonight. Really likes some of his on-the-ball defense. He was looking to pass a lot more than last year too.
It would help if he was out there with a true PG. He keeps getting open on the weak side, but the ball never reverses in our current "scheme." The 1/2 court wasn't really generating any catch-shoot shots for the secondary perimeter guys. By design? |

Or maybe because Huertas (who is our bench pg) wasn't playing. |

Russell-Clarkson-Kobe
Huertas-Williams-Young
offensively, our backcourt is solid. _________________ “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together.” – Vanessa Bryant |

Nick shot 4-10 which is decent.
And his defense was good.
He was sharing the ball and was a positive influence on the floor.
One reason the Lakers lost is the OTHER players shot a much
worse percentage. Much worse. 4-12? etc
The Lakers need a better movement offense with more passing instead of
the iso type plays.
Nick is not the problem.
Watch GS, Spurs, play. Watch the ball and player movement.
This is the way to go in the modern NBA. |

Two scores now on the floor. Nick and Lou will be tough on opponents. |

Yeah you make my point, and that is that when someone puts that ball in the hole everything looks great. Heck when the Lakers were up by 15 points they were actually playing the best defense ever. It wasn't because they were playing the best defense it was because the other team had to play harder on defense. FG% is the name of the game, and guys have to hit shots otherwise the other team has the advantage. I did not see anything special from Utah with respect to defense, the Lakers were just missing shots. If they would have shot just 40% they would have won that game. |

Wasn't a fan of the shot he put up on 2 defenders near the end of regulation. Only Kobe is allowed to do that. Lakers have to move the ball around and find the open man. |
