Kobe is idolized and looked up into some country's as a hero. Can't say same thing about US when comes to Kobe hate. It's ridiculously out of control.

I've actually been looking for a reason to join the forum, so don't worry guys. I got this

“Suplado siya,” said one popular PBA player who asked that he not be named. “Kapag lumapit ka sa kanya, kahit wala ka pang sinasabi, magsasalita na agad siya ng, ‘No pictures, no autographs.'

- He's a snob. When you go near him, even if you haven't said anything, he's quick to tell you "no pictures, no autographs"

"Kaya umpisa pa lang, ilag na kami,” he added.

- So we never really wanted to get close to him in the first place

"Hindi siya (James) outgoing … malayong malayo kay Kobe," said the player.

- He's not outgoing, very far from Kobe (pertaining to demeanor, I guess)

Gilas Pilipinas mainstay Ranidel de Ocampo, however, was quick to defend the Heat forward, saying James, unlike Bryant, had a tight schedule during his whirlwind visit and didn't have enough time to interact with fans.

"Intindihin na lang natin siguro na medyo tight ang schedule niya,” de Ocampo said. “Mahirap din kasi na pagbigyan niya isa … Obligado syang pagbigyan niya lahat. Hindi na siya matatapos sa gagawin niya.

"Saka pinasaya naman niya tayo eh. Okay na yun.”

- Let's try to understand because he was running on a tight schedule. It's hard to please everyone, he's obligated to do so. He'll never finish anything if he did.

Plus he made us all happy, and that's okay.

“Iba kasi yung charisma ni Kobe, marunong siyang makibagay. Kapag wala siyang ginagawa, pinagbibigyan niya yung picture-taking at pirma. Pag hindi, sinasabi niya ng maayos,” he said.

“Parang alam na niya ang sistema. Matagal na rin kasi siya, di ba?”

- Kobe's charisma is on another level, he knows how to fit in. When he isn't doing anything, he accommodates those who wants a picture or autograph. If not, he knows how to decline politely.

He knows the system, he's been doing it for a while, right?

Aware that James didn't entertain photo-op requests, de Ocampo said he found one way to get his picture taken with a player he described as "the best in the planet."
“Alam kong hindi ako makakapa-picture sa kanya, kaya sinabayan ko na lang siya nung dumakdak siya (during the MOA Arena scrimmage)," he said in jest.

- I knew I won't be able to get a picture with him, so I just allowed myself to get posterized

Welcome to LG and thanks for the translation.

When I heard he was coming over for a clinic, I said to myself, what in the hell will he be teaching ... the crab dribble? how to bully your way thru the hoop and get the foul lovefest?

Sucked though that it was such a big news here, media was all over him.

That's why I hate Ray Allen for making that 3, they now refer to him as a two time champion, instead of just a one time champion and 1 of 4 in Finals appearance! O well....

I just hope that they won't 3peat next year!

And Kobe's supposed to be cocky arrogant one and Lebron the fun loving one?

I don't get the hate they're giving him. Dami kayang pumila ng dalawang araw para lang makakuha ng tickets (People lined up for a couple of days just to get tickets to see him)

And what's with these NBA stars visiting Manila? If I stayed there I would've seen them. Why did I move????

Ayoko ko talga kay lebron, fan na ako ng lakers since 1994 pero si lebron ang most pampered player since ive started watching basketball aside from jordan.

translation: I don't like lebron, ive been a laker fan since 1994

I thought everyone knew Filipinos loved Kobe and the Lakers?

I've only found one who rooted for the Heat. Thankfully she's gone back to New York.

kobe will always be special to filipinos - he was one of the first "in their prime" stars to frequent the region and come to manila...before that we mostly had retired nba vets coming to do promos...considering how much basketball is loved here, it's about time a pre season game is held in manila...

during the lockout there was a large nba contingent that played exhibition games at the big dome...all stars like kobe, drose, kd, harden played to huge crowds...even then you could see filipino passion for the players but especially for kobe bean bryant...

that is probably why people are asked to compare lebron to him - kobe is a mythic and beloved player here...

I was fortunate to attend one of those exhibition games - only manny pacquiao got a louder welcome at the game...

cp3 was there too...

I hope the filipino love for kobe results in a lot of booing for d12...I certainly will be doing my part to let the coward know how we laker and kobe fans feel about him...

Kobe is so well loved there.

All my family there are Laker lunatics, except for 1 cousin and uncle who were dejected over the shaq fiasco and stuck with it. lol

Kobe is involved with some great charity's over there and has put in real time and work. Everyone I talked to genuinely feels that he loves to visit and loves the Pilipino people.

This was the only year since his rookie year that he didn't make it due to the injury.
