Yeah I made this thread with this in mind. I live in so. Cal.

How about these places now that give you the option to tip in decided increments (starting at 15%) at the register before your order is filled?

I wouldn't do that. I tip based on service.

Okay service is 15%. Great service is 25-30%.

Lousy service gets nothing.

Takeout I'll leave a couple bucks if I have some $1's on me.

If the service is good, tip well, people. It's good karma.

if its a super casual place that doesnt have waiters when you dine in... I either dont tip at all or $1 and sometimes extra change to round up to whole dollar
if its a place that does have waited service... ~10% for takeout tip

Tip if you want to don't tip if you don't. But expect the person serving you to hate you and give you (bleep) service because at the end of the day people aren't robots.

I have worked with people who had no problem doing bad things (no background checks/low pay) to your food so I would be careful with the people who handle your food, just saying

Is it customary to tip for pizza if you pick it up?

One thing I hate is how nowadays when getting takeout many places hand you the receipt with a tip line on it. I never tip for takeout and I'm not going to start no matter how guilty you try to make me feel about it.

As a partner at a restaurant, they're not doing it to make you feel bad and to tip. Our CC machines (and I'm sure are the same in most small restaurants) will print out a receipt with a tip line regardless of whether or not you dine in or take out. I can assure you that we don't expect a tip on a take out order.

Do it because you feel like it. If you feel a perceived guilt, you probably are more generous than you realize. You jsut want to tip bruh. Nothing wrong with it Sir Charles .
