For the longest time, I've been trying to remember which movie that scene was from and it's been driving me up the wall. To have an answer after all of these years, THANK YOU!!
Apparently left A.C. out in that scene:
[Karl and Theo pull up in their car and come through the revolving door]
Theo: So Kareem rebounds, right? Feeds Worthy on the break, over to A.C., to Magic, then back to Worthy! Right?
[Karl shoots and kills the desk guard with a perfectly timed aim]
Theo: BOOM! Two points!
[Theo jumps over the desk and pushes the guard's body down, then grabs his walkie-talkie]
Theo: We're in. |

"Playing God" (David Duchnovy) has characters at a Lakers vs Warriors game complete with a clip of Eddie Jones dunking. The TV show "Threes Company" had numerous references of the Lakers. One great music video featuring the Showtime Lakers is the video for "My Secret" by New Edition. |

I remember one where Larry and Mr. Roper were on the steps talking about the Lakers game from the night before, but they talked about Kareem and Adrian Dantley. A rare pre-Showtime reference, must've been a 1978 episode. I recall another where Furley was acting spastic and he explained it as being angry whenever the Lakers lose.
If I had a limitless pill, that's the kinda useless (bleep) that I would be able to access from the "remaining" 80% of my brain. I probably have an entire percentage point devoted to Land Of The Lost. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

In After the Sunset, Pierce Brosnan evades the FBI at a lakers game. Karl Malone and Shaq are on the bench, and Phil/Gary Payton are the only recognizable ones i remember |

Bad Boys II...Heat and Laker reference.
Rush Hour 3 showed the French cab driver "embracing" Americans by drinking Starbucks and wearing a Lakers cap. |

How about Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing", when Spike Lee's character asks John Torturo's character why he dislikes black people so much despite the fact that he admires black celebrities like Magic Johnson, Prince and Eddie Murphy. I won't mention the dialogue because it contains some explicit and derogatory language, but it's a a very insightful scene that touches on bigotry, and overall an excellent, thought-provoking film. |

Bowfinger.
Actually more to do with the Laker Girls than the Lakers, but certainly a movie any Los Angeles based Lakers fan should find funny. _________________ I would rather have questions I cannot answer than answers I cannot question - Richard Feynman |

That one wedding movie w/ Steve Martin. Talked about his Forum seats.
I think Murtaugh mentioned tix for a Laker gm in one of the Lethal Weapons. Then he actually went as Danny Glover and was interviewed by Stu at halftime. |

Haha. That is a weird scene. He was rambling incoherently about players on the Bulls roster at the time (Jordan, Woolridge, and a streak shooter of the time named Quintin Dailey). His mind was scrambled after that wrong way freeway assault. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

Here's an obscure one I just spotted in Kolchak. Not exactly a blatant reference, much more subtle as you might expect, from the poster of Willie McCarter hanging on Vincenzo's (Simon Oakland) wall. _________________ Lakers. Galaxy. Spurs. |

Does anyone know the movie where this little girl had a dream sequence that she was in the Lakers? And she had this Lakers themed outfit and she did a bunch of stuff like dribble the ball between her legs? Yeah, that was a stuntwoman, but does anyone know the title? |

I couldn't have worded it any better and I forgot about this one too. Interesting scene and thought-provoking like you said. _________________ Whenever the Lakers benefit all of a sudden rules need to be changed and trades need to be blocked.

I don't remember the exact lines or anything, but Elliott Gould and George Segal are kind of shooting around on a playground court and Elliott's making references to things like West dishing to Goodrich or whatever. It was pretty sweet.

That movie had several. But then, that's to be expected when your two main characters are impulsive gamblers who bet on any and every possible thing. Two others that come to mind:
When they're at the bar, Charlie (Gould) is asking other patrons who their favorites are for the '73 finals. He picks the Celtics over the Knicks, his rationale being "Willis is hurting. Knicks ain't winning nothing." Of course, in real life, we know that the Knicks would go on to win the championship over LA, 4 games to 1.
In another scene, Bill (Segal) and Charlie are making wagers on a Suns/Lakers game. Charlie takes the Lakers, to Bill's disbelief. When he asks why, Charlie says losing two in a row isn't a big deal. Bill quickly corrects him, however, saying that they have actually dropped four straight and the Suns are riding a five-game streak. |
Such a brilliant and sadly underseen movie. One of Altman's best for sure. Gould and Segal were never better, and the portrayal of gambling and of gamblers in general is painfully accurate. Happily surprised to see it mentioned here. |
