So every time the Lakers win, Mike will be puffing Ryan's... Nevermind.

Glad to have you back Kelly!!

Don't know details yet...1 or 2 years?

@Mike_Bresnahan
Busy day for the Lakers, who reached agreement with Ryan Kelly, Xavier Henry and Wesley Johnson. Not many roster spots left.

Mark Medina ‏@MarkG_Medina
Don't have dollar figure on Ryan Kelly's deal. But I'm told it's a two year deal with no options

Does that mean he's available to trade (not that we plan to trade him....just wondering since 1 years can't)?

Yup, you are. Enjoy my presense, it won't last forever.

If Randle boards like he did in college, I actually feel like he and Kelly are a good forward pairing. We're so trained to think of a SF as a wing player, but the new model is positionless while playing with the right mix of skillsets.

Both players have combo SF/PF skills, just on the opposite end of the spectrum which makes them a good pairing. All the skillsets covered plus built-in mismatch potential, especially being oversized (also helps if you have to play undersized at Center).

If he continues to make the most of his playing time like he was able to last season... then Ryan Kelly is a beast in the making and the Lakers do stand to reap all the benefits in his maturity as a player, all Dirk comparisons aside.

I am almost certain that one day Mark Cuban will be trying to go after him harder than a fat kid at Dairy Queen.

The guitar is the most exciting thing in that picture.

?????

Mitch is turned towards Kelly away from the camera and looking down at a set of contract pages making sure all is in order and you say he doesn't look excited? He's known Kelly was signing here for a while now.

I like the Kelly signing but he's not going to get any playing time because of Boozer. Kelly is a PF, he doesn't have the foot speed to play SF or the strength to play C. I think Kelly would have been a really good backup to Randle at PF, now that won't happen unless Boozer gets injured.

He's a hustle guy that blocks and alters shots with offensive skills. He needs to just shoot that open 3 instead of the head fake sometimes.

Sad thing is: This might be the second year in a row where Kelly is our best big man defender. He's smart, makes good rotations, has surprising timing on his shot blocks, but he's slow and can be over powered too easily. Maybe a smarter Hill or Davis can be better than him this season.

Salary structure for Kelly's contract:
http://www.basketballinsiders.com/los-angeles-lakers-team-salary/

According to Coon's CBA FAQ, a player can't be traded:
-- for three months or until December 15 of that season (whichever is later) after signing a contract as a free agent or matching an offer sheet to a restricted free agent.
-- for three months or until January 15 of that season (whichever is later) after re-signing a free agent with Larry Bird or Early Bird rights, if the team is over the cap, the player's new salary is above the minimum, and he receives a raise greater than 20%.

As I understand it, Lakers have Bird rights to Kelly, but they are not over the cap (Room exception was used on Kelly), so in this case Kelly can be traded after Dec 15.
