OK, the rules are simple. An over/under for wins this season by the Lakers has been established at 38. If you wish to bet, simply post over or under. I will add posters to the first post periodically.
At the end of the year, the losers pay up at a rate of 1 dollar per win on the wrong side of the ledger. For example, if you vote over, and the team wins 32 games (6 under 38), you owe 6 bucks. If you voted under, and the team wins 50, then you woe 12 bucks (50 is 12 more than 38). Make sense? Join in for a fun season long bet and to raise a bit of dough for DancingBarry. He has a paypal account I'm sure he'd use to accept "donations" from the losers.

Come on you grumbling "Jim is an idiot, we have no talent, and MD can't coach" pessimists! Ante up! _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
How'd you come up with 38? I'm a pessimist, and I think we will pass 38. Maybe before we added Nick Young, Farmar, Kaman and Johnson and didn't know that Kobe was healing fast, 38 would be possible, but 38 seems too low based off the intel we have as of now.

In the "50 win" thread, one poster said we'd win 38 max, and another wanted to bet him, which gave me the idea. Something fun to do. Shall we put you down for over? _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
But a 39 win season should not make anyone in this thread feel like they won, or that Jim Buss and D'Antoni succeeded.
The best hope for MDA is to be stuck in the middle. The worst thing that can happen to us is to continue to win 48-50 games but never be able to threaten the top 4 teams of the West in the post season.

Does it really matter if you take Over or Under? If you vote under, and the team wins 32 games (6 under 38), you owe 6 bucks. You owe 6 bucks either way. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

The people who said over would owe the $6 in that situation because they were incorrect on their guess. The people who said under would be correct.

So the people that took under would owe nothing?
Thats how I understand it.
If it was a more standard bet, the people who chose under should receive money, but instead it goes to LG.
I am rooting for the Lakers to win as many games as possible so I will take the Over. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

While I think the health of the team may have some effect on the season's win total (which is why the under was chosen), I am rooting for the Lakers to win as many as possible. In fact, rather than send the difference of Total Wins-38, I'll send LG the full amount for games won in the regular season. So if Lakers win 62 games, I'll send the full 62.

Not to be nosy but why does dancingbarry need donations? If its a private matter I fully understand. With that being said I'll take over. I just can't stomach the thought of picking the lakers to do awful.
