Looking like a playoff team.

The offense of the angels is pretty stellar actually. Calhoun has been really good in the leadoff spot.

As long as Pujols and Hamilton play like they should the Angels will be a scary team, because you know Trout is going to have another 10 war season

The Street trade made absolutely no sense.

Trading for an all star closer when you're trying to improve your bullpen makes no sense?

It's more of the domino effect. You put Street in the 9th, move Smith to the 8th, and now you have Grilli, Salas, Thatcher, and Jepson. Not too bad a bullpen. Granted, I felt they gave up too much for Street but there's marked improvement in the pen. However, I still think the Halo's need another starter. Santiago and Skaggs aren't exactly inspiring at the moment, especially when you see Oakland's rotation.

Bullpen is the main weakness of this team. Even if Street barely improves this team, then its worth it. He gives the angels a definite closer, and lets the rest of the guys settle into lower pressure roles so they can focus on getting their mechanics in order, and work into more of a routine than they've been able to all year.

Great win!

It's a shame we couldn't take advantage of Oakland's loss last night. They are playing Houston next, so we need to bring it against Baltimore.

They did give up a lot, but I think that's a result of how well the club has been playing. The management sees that this is a contending club right now and wants to shore up every weakness. I am of the opinion that if you feel like you can win now, you always do whatever you can to better your chances. It's not like they gave up a can't-miss stud in exchange for him. I would have liked another SP myself, but the Angels didn't have enough to pry away any of the top guys, so I'm not sure who they could have gotten that would have provided more of a positive impact than Street.

Light that baby up!!!

Playoff type games all week and we've been so-so.

We need to clean up the little things (taking the extra base, moving runners over, not giving extra outs, getting quality at-bats, cutting down on the SOs, etc) which will cause us to lose games - and have this week -against quality opponents.

5-4 post All-Star break record against contenders (Seattle, Baltimore, Detroit). I'll take it, given our under .500 record overall against .500 or better teams. It could easily be 6-3 if we held on to the lead on Thursday night.

I think while the Halos are in need of another starter, I also think it's a little overrated.

With the amount of off days in the playoffs, a Game 1 starter will be ready to pitch by Game 4 (hell, maybe even Game 3).

So realistically speaking, you only need 3 really good starters but of course a 4th as a backup starter is much preferred. So barring any injuries in the playoffs, we have Weaver, Wilson, and Richards. And with a stronger bullpen, I think we're good to go should the playoffs start today.

It's up to players like Trout, Pujols, and Hamiltion to prove their worth in the playoffs by coming up huge in clutch situations anyway.

I agree, the angels don't have a strong starting 5. But Richards, Weaver, Wilson are quality starters, and you only need 3 in the playoffs. I think Richards has great stuff, and can be unhittable when his command is on. If he gets hot in the playoffs the Angels can cruise through a couple game 7 series with the offense they have.

Man, last night was tough.

For a moment it looked like we were going to tie Oakland in the loss column and then we lose in extras and Oakland scores 6 runs in the 9th to win. Back to 2.5 games out.

Barring another comeback looks like Oakland should lose today.

Let another opportunity slip away tonight. Ugh. Adam Jones has been KILLING us these last two series.

Trout needs to snap out of his funk. It's no coincidence that the Angels have been struggling post ASB, where he has batted below .250.

Even if CJ Wilson is 100% healthy and back in form, I would definitely have Richards as the #2 guy behind Weaver.

Go Halos! I'll be going into enemy territory tomorrow night. Hoping they light up Kershaw.
