At this rate, I think Oakland will be fighting for their Wild Card lives against Detroit and Seattle.

Will be? They already are.

They have Scott Kazmir, who's been looking a lot more like Angels Kazmir lately, going up against Chris Sale tomorrow. And then they have a weekend series with Seattle.

So they'll probably lose tomorrow. If they don't find a way to win 2 out of 3 against Seattle, I think that will destroy any shred of confidence that might still be there with them.

Chokeland just got Sale'd as expected.

The Angels might lose today as it's Bullpen day in Arlington. But a day Chokeland doesn't gain ground is a day the Angels move closer to clinching.

The Angels are 53-16 against teams below .500 this season.

Absurd.

I am glad I will have a team in each League to root for this playoffs, the Angels and Cardinals.

After winning 23 of their last 29, they could go 9-7 down the stretch and still end up with 100 wins. Unbelievable 5 week run.

You and me both

I'm a big cardinal fan living in Southern California, so its nice to have a couple of my favorite cardinals playing locally so I can keep up with them.

Also, Mike Trout is a very likeable star, and the angels have some good young talent for pitching and position players.

Angels vs Cardinals would be an epic world series

I wouldn't want to face Oakland in the playoffs. If they actually make it, it would mean they found a way out of the slump they are in and are playing better baseball.

If the playoffs were today then I'd want to face them right now.

I'd rather face Oakland than Seattle.

A couple of interesting notes from tonights action:

1) The Angels overtook Oakland in the race for the Run Differential Championship. The Angels are at +159 while the A's are at +157. The A's had a +38 advantage over the Angels in that department when September began. Crazy.

2) The Angels have a 9 game winning streak, which is the longest streak the franchise has enjoyed in the past 10 years.

Run differential was Oakland's consolation prize and now they don't even have that anymore.

The more I think about it, Seattle is probably the best case scenario in the first round. Their offense is putrid and they would have to use Felix in the wild card game, which means we wouldn't see him again until game 3. That leaves Iwakuma as the only potential hurdle in the first few games.

The best case scenario would be KC winning the wildcard game. I think they're the weakest of the 4 teams involved.

^ Agree. I'd be very happy if the WC was between KC and Seattle, which looks like a very realistic possibility.

I keep thinking back on that glorious day when Fernando Rodney gave us the "Bow and Arrow" IN THE 8th INNING....and Albert and Trout returned the favor in the 9th with their own version.

The Angels have been on fire ever since.

Hope Pujols and Shoemaker are ok. I'd like to believe that taking both guys out was precautionary more than anything. <knock on wood>

They were due for a clunker, and it's no surprise that it came in one of our "starter by committee" games. Luckily, that shouldn't be an issue for us in the playoffs. Cory still pitched very well for 4 innings.
