Make that RBI #73.
Skaggs needs to get it together.
Up 5-4 in the 4th. |

20 games over .500!

Was at the game tonight, stayed until the win. Great feeling at the end there. Came home and saw we got Street.
Good day to be an Angels fan!
Our bullpen is killer now. |

Great pickup for the Angels. Now if only Oakland could lose a game or two... _________________ Jeffs

Haven't been watching the Angels this year, but will start. Looks like Pujols is having a really great year. Just imagine how good they would be if Josh Hamilton actually played to his potential. |

Saw a large line of walk-up buyers last night and the inside the stadium ticket sales booths were packed throughout the game.
Glad to see the fans buying in on the results from the first half of the season and coming out to support this team. The 4 years of missed playoffs has eroded some of the support (and the struggles of the last 2 seasons has kept many away) but as I called out earlier in the season when we were struggling to find our way through the injuries and the horrible results from the bullpen, this team has a special quality to it and is destined for some potentially big things this season.
Truthfully, the night and day difference in the bullpen was evident last night. And now you add Street to the mix.
CJ needs to get right in the next 2 months and then it's on. |

Agreed, the team definitely has some tenacity to it and the bullpen since we dealt Frieri has been great. Adding Grilli, Thatcher and now Street has turned our bullpen around and will help out our starters too.
Hopefully when Wilson returns, he will be back to form. |

I'm not sure how I feel about the Street trade. He definitely makes the bullpen deeper and much improved and that's a plus, obviously.
But we gave up A LOT for a guy who is just a reliever. Relievers, no matter how good they may be, have limited value due to their limited usage.
Also, I personally would have rather the Angels get another starter. But to be fair, there aren't really any great starters out there right now other than David Price and Cliff Lee, who the Angels probably can't afford. Especially now after the Street trade. _________________ ...in my opinion. |

I hear you regarding getting another starter, but as you indicated, not many clear choices and they would cost a lot (probably several of the young guys that we have playing right now).
In the playoffs (especially AL), even the best pitchers are forced to throw a lot of pitches and rarely go past the 7th inning. A deep bullpen affords you the ability to finish a game even if the "quality start" only nets you 6 innings. Those last 6 to 9 outs in the playoffs are often the hardest ones to get. |

Real pitcher's duel so far. Richards perfect through 4 on 39 pitches. Felix has only given up one hit to Trout. _________________ Jeffs

Great at bat by pujols to start a little rally against the second best pitcher in the game today. One run against him is a pretty good feat. Especially considering it gets him out in 7 innings |

Which is exactly why winning the division is so important. A one game playoff against Felix Hernandez terrifies me. _________________ Jeffs

Maybe Hamilton should have stayed at 1st and scored on the Freese walk-off |

what a terrible waste of an opportunity to gain 1 game on the A's. also, why did cron get sent to AAA? _________________ Billions Billions Billions |

Disappointed since we really had a few chances to win this game, but any game against Felix Hernandez is going to be close, and those can really go either way once you get into extras. Could've tied the A's in the loss column tonight... _________________ Jeffs

Have to make room for Street.
I'm sure he'll be back up soon because the Halos used a lot of arms last night (and tonight) going extra innings. _________________
