http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/nbarank-lal-2013/2013-nba-player-rankings-los-angeles-lakers

Except for Kobe, all have been ranked, and ranked lower than last year.

Gasol 29
Nash 88
Kaman 176
Young 228
Hill 237
Blake 253
Meeks 276
Farmar 305
Johnson 336
Sacre 432, the only one ranked higher
Henry 451
Harris 460
DJO 469
Kelly 477
Williams not ranked

You can see why MDA wants an expanded rotaton to blend the old and the young. We need a break out season from one or two of the under 30 group, and it's the veterans job to help them. Making them better is the only way to make the team better because the vets can no longer carry the load by themselves.

Nash and Pau were both in the top 20 last year, IIRC. Pau fell a few spots, but Nash fell more than 50

Hard to disagree with his ranking until he proves he can be healthy again.

So far this preseason Nash has looked like the same Nash as last year, the Nash that looked done.

Nash unfortunately is a spot starting PG these days.

If MDA has an idea about managing Nash, he'll let him start the first quarter, finish the 2nd quarter, start the 3rd quarter, close the 4th quarter. Kind of like how Fish, Ron Harper, or any other really old player we've had.

The rest of the inbetween areas it will be Farmar/Blake time.

Nash's durability is really questionable these days and he's above average these days at best skill wise versus the young guns out there.

I'm an optomist, but there's also a lot of room for the neysayers.

Bye.

Nash' rating change reflects his recent his age/injury experience and seems reasonable, if not generous. Uncertainty about his value, durability and impact is up.

For what it's worth, here's a 5-on-5 discussion of the topic (plus Kobe's all-time standing):

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/5-on-5-131016-kobe/kobe-bryant-#nbarank-fair

I tend to agree with Shelburne's comments about the #25 ranking. Even with the injury, I would struggle to come up with 24 players who even arguably rank above him going into the season.

Now, I'm waiting for some epic Kobe game (maybe >50 pts) and his interview: "Not bad for the 25th best player in the league".

I'm kinda laughing at Stephen A Smith going on about "the experts", it kind of reminds me of Fox News since he's one of them....lol

He of course knows he's one of the guys (bet he gave Kobe a 7, lol), but that's not what ESPN is about

he'll struggle to be a top 25 player this year. true. sorry.

btw from the age of 4-11 i dressed up EVERY SINGLE GAME,didnt miss one, in the appropriate home or away KOBE jersey w/the appropriate color arm band WITH his shoes(had them all), downloaded his stats every week, solely controlled Kobe in every video game not even the whole Laker team. lol
Kobe is obvi my fav player of all time, i dont even have a #2. im one of the greatest Kobe fans ever. but realistically, he's going to have a very bad year.

Sorry for what. Your opinion does not carry any more weight than any of the other fans here even with your dubious Kobefan4life claims. I don't think he'll struggle to be in the top 25. There's only about 6 or 7 players close to him(impact) even after the injury.
LBJ
KD
Chris Paul
Dwight Howard
Carmelo
Derrick Rose
Russell Westbrook
