Eric Bledsoe and Suns failed to reach an extension agreement, league source tells Yahoo. Bledsoe will be a restricted free agent in July.

Restricted. Suns can match any offer. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

So is Hayward and Monroe. I say make the offers and see if the small markets match. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Add Vasquez and Patterson to that list. Kings passed up extensions on both of them. Turned down fourth year option on Fredette as well. _________________ Lakers. Galaxy. Spurs. |

Quote: | Besides Hayward and Bledsoe, prominent 2010 first-rounders who were not granted extensions and thus will also become restricted free agents in July include Detroit's Greg Monroe, Philadelphia's Evan Turner, Memphis' Ed Davis, Boston's Avery Bradley and Sacramento's Greivis Vasquez. |
Should/Could/Would the Lakers just throw max, or near max, at all of them and see who they land? I'm talking about all the players mentioned in this thread in addition to the ones i quoted.

Now that's one PG, we seriously need to target!!! Hopefully he's a beast and we can steal him from Phoenix. |

how much do you think it would take for the suns not to match on bledsoe? some articles, albeit dated back in november, seemed to give off the vibe they wouldn't be willing to pay him the max:
http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2013/10/29/5042262/neither-bledsoe-nor-his-agent-have-professed-desire-for-long-term
http://arizonasports.com/41/1677433/Eric-Bledsoe-not-a-franchise-player-quite-yet-according-to-Phoenix-Suns-Lon-Babby
i'm sure things are a bit different now that they see the dragic & bledsoe backcourt works, but the suns have been really frugal in recent years.
there's a very, very slim of this happening but what if:
1) kobe comes back healthy and at a 20/6/6 level
2) 2014 first round lottery pick
3) sign bledsoe 2014-2015
4) sign love 2015-2016
i'm no salary cap guru so correct me if i'm wrong, but would a distribution in 2015-2016 of kobe's $25M, love at ~$18M, and bledsoe at ~$12M not leave enough room to fill out the roster?
that's a 2 year reload just in time for kobe's last year and to at least give him a good fighting chance for his 6th. his contract makes it tough so it really boils down to how much we'd have to pay to snatch bledsoe. i can't see this working if we have to pay bledsoe anything significantly over $12M/year. what do you guys think? |

That's a good plan if we can sign Bledsoe. I think he can make somewhere around 13-14m. You let Nash play out the 2014 season and I think we'll have enough for Love, who I believe we can sign for around 16m.
If we can get someone like Embiid, that's a championship squad right there and a good core going forward after Kobe retires. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |

Watching Suns vs Clippers for potential free agents and Eric Bledsoe has really impressed me. I'm at the point where he's my clear cut favorite FA in 2014. He's good for 18 pts 7apg 4 rpg with great defense every night. Have some friends that are Suns fans and they think were the favorite to land him because Dragic is already making 8 mil a year. Eric Bledsoe also likes LA enjoyed it when he was with the Clippers.
We can get Bledsoe at 12 mil a year then draft either Embid, or Wiggins. Then in 2015 sign Love for 18 mil we would be a really good team.

Love
Embid

Bledsoe

Won't apply to Bledsoe, Monroe, or Hayward. The Arenas rule doesn't apply to guys coming off their full rookie deal. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

These would still be the same Suns who offered Eric Gordon the max, yes? They won't let Bledsoe walk. _________________ Lakers. Galaxy. Spurs. |

No chance. Zero. Not happening. No way. Bledsoe is too important to the suns for them to just let him walk. They will match any offer despite what any one has heard from their friends that are suns fans. |

bledsoe now needs knee surgery, out indefinitely.
1) does this change how much the suns are willing to pay for him?
2) should the lakers still gamble on him? |

1) yes, probably.
2) Hell no.
I would have loved bledsoe but after this, forget it. I simply don't trust the health of these quick, athletic guards once they get knee surgery. I just don't trust him to be as good or stay healthy. really sucks. |

yeah i feel like lakers fans have gotten to be pretty jaded regarding injuries, especially after these past 2 seasons. westbrook almost proved everyone wrong. |

We should definitely make an offer for some of those restricted agents. I doubt all Utah, Phoenix and Detroit would match all offers. You can bet each of those players receiving the max from at least one of the 29 teams out there. I wouldn't put too much into Utah and Phoenix matching "any offer". That's just standard BS the GMs spout because they clearly can't say the opposite. |

Bledsoe would be nice. I think the Lakers should definitely make him a target. This kid has a ton of upside. |
