The Nash and MDA experiment wasn't about swinging for the fences it was about being consumed by the shadow of Showtime. The sooner that the FO realizes that Showtime can't be replicated the better off the organization will be. |

Actually we got Nash originally to play under Mike Brown which isn't showtime. |

That is true, but when it was time to choose a coach for an older and slower team with very capable post players, the idea of recreating Showtime clouded the judgement and MDA was hired. At least that is their excuse/explanation for such a bad decision. |

He's 11 assists shy of Mark Jackson on the all time leaders list, hope he gets it this season. |

It's funny that the guy who's saying, "I don't get you. More importantly, I don't want to try" thinks other people are the ones who are trying to rationalize their opinions.

Nash told D’Antoni he may never go back on the floor again if he came out after tweaking the nerve/hamstring. Stayed in, got dime 10,335. |

Steve Nash says his hamstring gave him trouble again and his season is probably over. Only 4 games left anyway. |
Quote: | @mcten
Nash said he felt a "bite" in his hamstring. Thinks the setback will likely end his season. |

Maybe we should take "retirement" out of the title? Nash clearly is going to attempt to play out his contract. _________________ Lakers, today. Lakers, tomorrow. Lakers, forever. |

Really happy that Nash got that 10,355th assist and made that milestone on front of the Staples center crowd. Loved the standing O too.
Now he needs to retire. I'm not saying that to be insensitive, and I get that he's competitive, but there's only so much bruising his body can take. Has there been a game where he plays and is not dinged up after? It's not about the Lakers cap space at this point, it's about Nash.
Leave on a high: 3rd all-time in assists and a standing ovation from the home crowd. Not the same as winning a championship, but a respectable exit. |

Agreed. I don't see this guy retiring by choice. A forced medical retirement or the end of his current contract are the only ways I see him leaving the game. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Agree, it´s a good way to call it a career on a positive note.
A really respectable exit. |

I have no issues that Nash should play as long as he wants, however, I do disagree with the idea that the Lakers need to pay for it while he lives out his dream. The lakers don't owe him anything, its not like he is a laker great or ever will be. |

We do need to pay. That's what happens when you sign a guy to a contract. |

The owe him for one more season. And if he can play 15-20 mpg in 60 games, he will be a benefit for them. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

That's a very optimistic projection given his age and injuries. He had an entire off-season to recover last summer and still couldn't stay healthy. It would be foolish of the Lakers to pencil in Nash for any kind of regular minutes next season. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |
