Quote:
Paul Rudd as Ant-Man: Marvel Gets it Right Again

Marvel Studios knows a thing or two about a thing or two, and one of the things they know best is casting — even if it doesn't always appear that way at first blush.

But all of the naysayers who freaked out when Robert Downey Jr. was cast as Iron Man no longer exist. Downey's work in the film silenced that noise. Since then, hires like Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and the Chrises Evans and Hemsworth as Steve Rogers and Thor have only increased fans' faith in Marvel's casting choices.

It's why there's little to no public outcry about Chris Pratt starring in "Guardians of the Galaxy." Sure, he's best known as the doughy Andy Dwyer on "Parks & Recreation," but any related concerns are mitigated because (a) it's Marvel's call so it's the right call, (b) have you seen Pratt lately, holy wow that dude got jacked, and (c) it's Marvel's call, so it's the right call.

Now, put your ear to the Internet, and tell me what you hear. If you're picking up on any major complaints about Paul Rudd landing the lead role in "Ant-Man," then you have better hearing than I do. The fan reaction proves that once again, Marvel got it right with their newest leading man.

Interesting. I wonder if that's why she left Parks and Rec this season.

I've never thought Paul Rudd had star quality. He's perfect if you pair him as the straight man to someone funny, but every movie where he tried to be the funny guy flopped. He's the essence of milquetoast to me, but that quality might work well because Ant-Man is a reluctant superhero who'd rather be a scientist.

Rashida Jones is almost like the female version of Paul Rudd so I hope they get good writers for this.

Meh at least they didn't choose Seth Rogen also can't be any worse off casting wise than Affleck as Batman for DC! Marvel however is really reaching deep in their bag for superheoroes from the comics to the big screen.

Ant-man was one of the original 5 Avengers in the comic books.

Now if Marvel announces a Moon Knight movie on the other hand...

I assume that this Ant Man will be a Disney property tied to the Avengers storyline/universe? Still confused about Sony rebooting their Spiderman property a mere 5 years after the successful trilogy.

Ant-Man will be part of the Marvel Studios umbrella aka it will part of the Avengers.

Spider-man will always stay with Sony sadly, and X-Men with Fox.

By the way I like the Paul Rudd casting.

I want to see this just because Edgar Wright is directing. I'll see anything that guy makes.

Ant-man might be a tough one to pull off, so I am curious about this one.
I wonder who will play Dr. Pym?

Was curious about this and it turns out Ant-Man was introduced three months after DC's Atom.

Does anyone know why the Wasp sprouts wings when she shrinks but Ant-Man doesn't?

Is there some rule that one of Judd Apatow's friends has to be in every movie made?

I think that had something to do with them potentially losing the rights to Spider-Man (and reverting back to Marvel) if a movie wasn't made within a certain timeframe. At least that's what I've read.

If Ant-Man is slated for release the same year as Avengers: Age of Ultron why couldn't they make Henry Pym his creator?

Rudd always has a little random sci-fi attached in him. Still remember him as the dude beating the (bleep) out Michael Myers with a metal pipe in Halloween 6.

Marvel keeps getting it right with casting, unlike DC.
