I said it before and I'm going to say it again. On my analysis on MOV and SRS, the Lakers on pace to end up with a 24-58 record which give them 3rd worst record in the league and would guarantee a 4th seat with 3rd highest selection for top pick. Now on a WARP projection which include the whole team, Kobe and Nash's RAPM statistics included together, the Lakers will end with a 34-48 record which only place them at 10th in the lottery. So it's in the Lakers interest and Kobe sits out for the remainding of the season and Nash retired or sit out too.

Actually, the 3rd worst record does not guarantee a 4th pick. It guarantees a 6th pick (since all 3 top slots could go to lower seeds and then worst team would get the 4th pick, 2nd worst the 5th, and 3rd worst the 6th). Highly unlikely but that is the bottom line.
In this year's draft, top 5 guys can be legit franchise player, it's that deep.

In fact, there are 4 franchise level players and 3 borderline franchise player and several all star level talent. This draft is completely nut!

We could easily be up to #1 by season's end if Kobe sits out the season. This team is playing the worst basketball in the league right now, and the tankers in the East will have to play each other. The Lakers currently are behind ALL of the non playoff teams in the East. But those seven teams have to play each other 4 times . Those bottom seven will also win some games against the East playoff teams, since only three teams in the East have a .500 record (wow).

The Lakers only trail Utah and Sacramento right now, and both of those teams are playing better than us. It's very possible that the Lakers will be last in the West in a couple weeks tops. Then the East teams will beat each other up, and the Lakers will probably be in the top 3 come lotto time.

The great thing about the top 3? Either Embid/Wiggins/Parker are extremely worthy of being the #1 pick a typical draft. For example, they'd all have been drafted about Blake Griffin, and probably even D Rose, both of whom went #1.

We're 2 games away in the loss column from being the third pick. Brooklyn has 21 Losses. We have 19.
Since things are reversed here, we should really focus on the win column instead of the loss column. But year, there are 3 teams in the East who have 10 wins, and 2 teams who have 9 wins. We could pass them up very, very soon when they start playing each other. The woeful Bucks (7-24) will be the toughest in the league to out tank, but we did ourselves a huge favor tonight!

2 more loses and Lakers would basically have a five-way tie for the 3rd worst record in the league.

these highlighted teams are terrible. By no means are they guaranteed losses. Lakers will have to come to battle to out tank them.

Farmar is going to be gone for a while, so is Xavier, all you need now is for Jordan Hill to tweak an ankle or catch the flu from Pau, then we're really going to pile up the losses.

No, it is relevant enough to be in here

And the tanking for wiggins thread isn't? Just merge the 2 and change the title.

The Farmar injury came right on time. I was a little worried about his return, but luckily he pretty much played like hot garbage. Now that there are no PGs, it will be pretty hard for these guys to F it up. Still though, can't underestimate how bad the Eastern Conference is this year.

Side Note: I sure wish Dwight Howard was traded at the deadline in a multi team deal that included a 1st rounder or two in THIS years draft! They knew it was going to be great even back then

Eh, I don't think there is any hidden data we need in there. I think the Lakers are in tank mode now whether they want to be or not, so here's your place to discuss their standing.

I have full faith in my Lakers that they can be number one this year - with their current Coach and players, no need to tank or do any trades, just keep the same game plan as the Bucks game and we should be number one by the end of the season...!

Number One Lottery pick that is...

They need a strong 2-8 or 1-9 showing to really catch up. Eddie was great but would have loved to have seen Jason Kidd in purple and gold.

if we're not in the top 5, I don't really trust Mitch with the pick. He got overpowered from drafting Sean May for god sakes.

Not good enough. The goal should be top 5. We need an old-fashioned Celtics losing streak before they formed the Big 3. Pay now, party later.

Heck of an opportunity to get a franchise player the way they're falling apart and the stretch that's coming up.

Rest Farmar if ya like, just don't let these guys get injured for next year.

Reminds me quite a bit of the Colts with Peyton Manning a couple of years ago except L.A. wants to keep their top guy.

Wiggins stepping in to pickup where Kobe left off would be something else. At this point why not try to do that?

#1 Utah takes Jabari Parker
#2 Milwaukee takes Joell Embiid
#3 Toronto takes Andrew Wiggins
#4 Philadelphia takes Julius Randle
#5 Lakers take Marcus Smart

The ping pong balls might not fall that way. Knowing Stern there's a good chance L.A. will finish 3 in that.

The other question is do you trade Jordan Hill for a draft pick?
