|
|
Hey fellas!
Some of you know here know I have a pretty well connected source from my early days in NBAWire circa 2001-2005 formerly named Caron1. Alums of the NBAWire that are here like Just-Ming or Number-8 can vouch for my source.
Quote: | Suns like Noah from the Bulls. They're also interested in Pau Gasol. The Suns can offer one of their 1st round picsk which both Lakers and Bulls want. |
Quote: | Okafor's expiring. (works) |
Quote: | Lakers don't seem to be in a hurry but the Suns are. Either way the Suns will try to make a trade by the deadline. |
And there you have it.

Yeah Suns are struggling without Bledsoe. I can see them making a play for Noah or Gasol. I would do the deal with a first rounder coming our way. Noah would be better for them though. |

dunno... they may need to add a young player or something else but I guess beggars can't bet choosers. Especially when Pau's stock has plummeted to this level and it would be funny to watch Emeka get paid to not even play a single minute this year |

Suns looks at the fallen Cavs deal and rolls their eyes on this.
Suns would rather offer that to the Bulls for Noah, not the Lakers for Gasol. _________________ The butter is getting hard. |

They're not going to get Noah for that price. If that were the case the Lakers would try to get Noah for themselves.
Archie Goodwin. SG from Arkansas that was asked to play the point. Extremely confident. The similarities with Fisher end there. |

I think he played at Kentucky. Is he from Arkansas? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

a pick and okafor would be the best situation. They'd probably want to ship us a bad contract too though. Pau isn't worth as much as many of you guys feel... |

I would not mind a three way trade where we send Pau back to Memphis and have zach randolph go to Phoenix.. Something along the lines of:
Lakers get Okafor + picks
Phoenix gets zach randolph
Memphis gets Pau + Meeks
Would be cool if it happened on Feb 1st of this year, the 6th year anniversary when the Lakers acquired him.... |

Okafor and a 2014 first or Okafor/Goodwin/2015 first gets it done IMO.
Okafor is out indefinitely so swapping Pau for him and a first could be a double win in the eyes of many. Get another pick and lose even more games. |

A smallish 2015 or '16 expiring is ok with me. Not sure who on that team would fit that description off hand. |

Same time why would the Suns trade with us? Yes they did Nash but they did it to rebuild but now why help us rebuild? Giving Gasol is a rental and we possibly move up in the lottery, I don't see PHX doing it! |

Lakers go after CP#....failed
Lakers get Howard...he leaves
Lakers try to trade with Cavs....failed
Not like the old Lakers where players want to come here and stay...
need new management... |

It's been reported the last few days that PHO wants Noah, and PHI wants to trade at least 2 of Young, Hawes, and Turner. By doing this deal, you don't need to amnesty Boozer; we'll take him for you for either CHA's '14 pick or PHO's '14 pick. We also get one of our rumored offseason targets in Turner as well.
PHI gets Okafor's expiring, maybe a '15 or '16 first round pick, and either Jimmy Butler/rights to Mirotic. (In this deal, you hold onto Butler.)
That leaves you with the following options this summer:
Work a sign-and-trade for Melo for Thad Young/Gerald Green/Jimmy Butler or Mirotic
Trade for K-Love with the same package
Keep Young, Green, and resign Pau for a more cap-friendly deal in the neighborhood of $10m and/or bring Mirotic over.
You don't have to undergo a full rebuild, but you will have to surrender a few other assets and probably renounce bird rights to Kirk.
I am not exactly sure if this works with all the necessary cap math, but I know it would make a lot more sense than simply trying to get enough under the cap to sign Melo straight-up... because he is not going to take (that big of) a paycut to sign with you. |
What do you all think? This would take us out of the Melo race (which I don't get the sense many of us are crazy about anyway) but still keep us in the market for '15 FAs. It may mean another year of being a treadmill team however, but gives us a few assets for a rebuild. |
