He's a FA this summer. The Pacers already have a stacked high salary. Do you think we should pursue this guy? IMO he's the 4th best SG and possibly could be the best in 3-4 years.

He plays defense, he can shoot, pass, and rebound. I think we should make him our 1st priority this offseason. Maybe he can play the point.

I think he's worth pursuing. Pacers would be out of their minds to not keep him.

don't think we can pay him enough.

if we're expecting love next summer and then durant, i'm not sure we can carry over more than an 8 mil $ type deal, and not sure if that's enough for stephenson.

i think it will be almost impossible for the pacers to keep him without making some type of trade beforehand, but just not sure how it would work with our finances.

Stephenson can play the both guard positions. Dude can flat out ball. Yea hell want 8 probably 9 mill don't see the pacers keeping him but the lakers shoukd take a hard look at him. If we draft embiid and have Stephenson long term sets us nice for the future.

I'm glad Kobe took that $24m. We don't need young stars.

I think he's a steal at 8-9 m a season. I'd offer a 4yr 40m.

perhaps we can offer 4/36 and have it descending - starting with the higher amounts.

that has a chance.

but who knows what other teams would offer.
it's not like the lakers are gonna be contenders next season either...

I'd take lance over overpaying for deng. Lance has more upside.

Loved Lance coming out of the draft. Knew he had it in him and was hoping he'd fall to the Lakers. Pacers swooped in and the Lakers too Devean Ebanks 2 picks later.

Pacers fans are slowly finding out just how important he is, they are even starting to come to terms he is the one piece they cannot do without. Best example is when they played that under strength hawks teams and Lance was out.

The comments and general opinion on Lance just went up a notch, they were a different team when he is not out there, losing to under strength teams whilst he is out should be indicative of just how much of a vital clog he is, Quick browse of their forums and you can see they dont mind overpaying to keep him (10 mil a year)

Yeah the fans don't mind overpaying but do the pacers? They already got George and hibbert on max deals and west making like 12mill a year.

I've been waiting for this thread because I've been pondering the same scenario. With a top draft pick, and a Stephenson, it's a very solid start in the right direction.

And more versatility. Deng is exclusively a 3. Lance, otoh, has ball handling skills, passing, a good shot, and he is just as defensive minded. He's rising on my target list. Another I'm watching is Reggie Jackson of OKC.

Ha I know. But wouldn't it have been nice to say pursue a max free agent, lance and Kobe? Can't do that now.

You still can but it wont leave a lot of room for role players. 24M (Kobe) + 12M (Stephenson- This what the Lakers need to offer to stop the Pacers from matching) + 18M (Love) = 54M This leaves about 8-9M left for role players.

How do you get Love here in 2014? Cap space and our first? I'd rather keep our 1st and then get love later if that's the plan.

I dont think Pacers can afford more than 7-8 million for Stephenson. I don't see them as a luxury tax paying team.

Exactly. I never thought about Lance with all the attention given to Melo and Lebron.

Lance, may in fact, be the steal and best free agent this summer due to his age.

Lebron and Melo are about to be 30. Lance will be 24. Durant is a nice dream, but I dont see him leaving Westbrook.

In my opinion Stephenson should be our main target. If we sign him, you figure out the rest later.

Imagine if the Lakers sign Lance Stephenson and draft Marcus Smart. Two premier defenders at the guard position.

Smart
Stephenson
Kobe
Johnson
Hill

I am with you Yinoma. Kobe's deal severely handicapped us.

However, now he has to earn his check and be the leader and player that his paycheck says he is. We all know he is one of the greatest of all time, now he can prove us wrong in our belief that he is overpayed.

We should pursue Lance and another free agent in the $10 to $12 million range. I dont think we need another max player. I think Kobe should be the max player and Lance may develop into one.

I don't know how many of you actually watch him, but man he is entertaining when he dribbles. He dances with his feet as he walks.

Haha I know, it's so awesome. Whenver they a defensive rebound, I'm like give it to Stephenson.
