Let's look toward this summer.

It looks like Cavs might be thinking about trading Irving (he is not happy). so we trade our 1st rd pick (top 5) for Kyrie. Since he makes only $5mil, we can offer Melo the money. We can offer him around $18-19mil. If he truly wants to win he would take that amount. Now, if, and this is BIG IF, Nash retires, we got more flexibility. It looks like Bosh could be going to DAL to play at his hometown. So Dirk would leave and we can offer him about $8mil. THEN, with all these talents, there is only one man that is right for this job. Phil Jackon. He is that guy who can persuade Melo and Dirk to take little bit less, at least for the 1st year, to win a ring together. Then Kobe/Phil retires, walking out as a winner, We got that $23mil off the cap and can go after KLove or Aldridge.. Then re-sign Kyrie for 5-6 yrs.

Then our future will be Kyrie-Melo-Love (Aldridge). I feel like we won't miss a beat. We just need Jim Buss to snap out of what he is smoking and do the RIGHT THING!

I don't think Jim is the one smoking something...

Any plan based on getting stars to take less money is fundamentally flawed, especially when your top guy is injured and you're coming off a horrible season.

Don't expect Melo and Dirk to come to LA at a discount.

stop looking at he past, turn the page already. there are so many holes in that lineup it's not even funny, but for OP and other "fans" just put all the big names together and hire Phil, all is okay.

Also, let's assume Kobe doesn't come back this season. Don't know why you think guys are going to take paycuts to team with a 36-year-old Kobe who has been out with multiple injuries for a year.

This would be great except Lakers are not allowed to trade their 1st round pick per CBA!

GREAT defense!

So many $$$ for so little defense... Lakers would do better giving the money to charity or something...
