Who would've guessed Manning at 38 and a potentially career ending injury looks way better than Brady does and they are 15 months apart. |

Why do players seem to want to go play with Manning more than Brady though? Is it just his team's willingness to spend or does it have more to do with what players think of Brady and Manning? |

Quote: | Reche Caldwell faces prison time after guilty plea on drug charge
Former NFL receiver Reche Caldwell could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a federal drug conspiracy.
Caldwell admitted to a scheme to distribute the drug “Molly,” prosecutors say.
According to the Tampa Tribune, Caldwell admits that he signed for and accepted a parcel from China containing 1.5 kilograms of Molly. A week later, investigators intercepted a package mailed by Caldwell that contained the drug.
A second-round pick of the Chargers in 2002, Caldwell spent seven years in the NFL in San Diego, New England, Washington and St. Louis.
Caldwell has been arrested three times this year. In addition to the arrest in connection with this case, he also was arrested in January on an accusation that he was running an illegal gambling operation, and in August on a charge of possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license. |

$$$$ mostly I mean with Brady its a bit of both the team is gutted and he's on the decline. Back then he was younger you can hide it now as he's older not so much.
That being said the Pats will still win the division because there's no competition |

Nah, I'm hoping the Phins squeak by. Philbin's a clueless coach but they have enough talent to win out. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

I'll believe it when they get something in writing...been fooled too many times already.
Wonder what site they would play at though. They have plans at downtown but I think the Inglewood site might be better just because there is room for tailgating and maybe more real estate if the Hollywood Park development doesn't go thru. |

So Rams back to LA?
Raiders coming too?
Who knows....but maybe the NFL should adopt what the Angels did.
St Loius Rams of Los Angeles
Oakland Raiders of Los Angeles
That way they won't have to rename the team every time they need to upgrade their facilities and flee for the other city. |

No fan of Brady but the continual gutting of his supporting cast has to be stinging him. From prime Randy Moss to Brandon LaFell in no time flat. |
In fairness as well, that offense has been decimated after it was rebuilt because of injuries/hernandez.
I think they were the only offense outside of the 99-01 rams to score 500 points in 3 consecutive seasons, entering last season.
Given the issues, I think they'll figure it out on offense eventually.
That defense has a lot of talent imo, but they've played horrible. |

QB's that have it don't usually lose it. Team roster changes and failure to reinforce them play a big role.

Yeah, I know. IIRC he was working construction when the Colts called him. Father time waits for no one. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Honestly, that's how I feel every nfl owner is. It's like the billionaires club and for a billionaire, Los Angeles seems like better money than St. Louis, no offense to my Cardinals or anything. _________________ Lakers Cardinals Rams |

Quote: | Patriots cut Kenbrell Thompkins
Posted by Michael David Smith on October 4, 2014, 5:21 PM EDT
New England Patriots quarterback Brady and wide receiver Thompkins celebrate after Thompkins scored touchdown on pass from Brady in first half of their NFL football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Foxborough
One of the many disappointing players on the Patriots’ offense has been released.
Kenbrell Thompkins, a wide receiver who showed promise as a rookie last year but hasn’t done much this year, has been waived. Thompkins has just six catches for 53 yards this season after catching 32 passes for 466 yards last year.
The Patriots also promoted linebacker Ja’Gared Davis from the practice squad, meaning he’ll be eligible to play on Sunday night against the Bengals. New England may need Davis for depth on both defense and special teams.
Those were the only moves the Patriots made today. There was some talk that the team might activate cornerback Brandon Browner and receiver Brian Tyms for Sunday night’s game, but that hasn’t happened and neither will play. |

I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner with one of the NFL owners being Paul Allen...

Quote: | NFL players banned from wearing 'Beats by Dre' headphones
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will have to use something else to block out the yelling from Seahawks fans. The NFL and Bose have secured a deal that will prohibit the use of Beats by Dre headphones, as well as other headphone manufacturers, while players appear on camera.
The deal between the two entities gives Bose rights that will entitle it to prevent players and coaches from wearing any other manufacturer's headphones during televised interviews. It is said to be effective immediately so consequently gone are the days of Kaepernick and Cam Newton warming up while sporting a pair of Beats on the field.

The restriction of other headphone usage includes pre-season training camps, practice sessions, game day, post-game interviews, and it remains in place until 90 minutes after the game has ended.
Beats issued a statement claiming they are an intricate part of players warming up before games.
“Over the last few years athletes have written Beats into their DNA as part of the pre-game ritual,” a Beats spokesperson said. “Music can have a significant positive effect on an athlete’s focus and mental preparedness and has become as important to performance as any other piece of equipment.”
This isn't the first time athletes have been forced to separate themselves from the beloved headphones. During the World Cup players were only allowed to wear Sony headphones even though superstar Neymar Jr. was featured in a Beats commercial.
Beats by Dre was recently acquired by Apple and currently owns over half of the premium headphone market so companies are doing what they can in attempts to level the playing field. |

Quote: | Dolphins defensive end booked for resisting arrest
The Dolphins have the week off, but that doesn’t mean they’re out of the headlines.
Defensive end Derrick Shelby was arrested early Saturday morning for trespassing and resisting arrest (without violence), according to Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post.
Of course, his mug shot released by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office indicates there might have been some violence.
According to the police report, he caused a disturbance at a club called Off the Hookah, was asked to leave and refused.
Shelby’s attorney, Daniel Rosenberg, said he believes Shelby’s bruised and beaten face was the fault of the police.
“There was no report of a fight [in the club] or anything like that,” Rosenberg said. “The only place the bruising can come from is from the police. I don’t want to get into that too much. When you see charges of resisting without violence and you see photos like that there’s a lot of conflicting information.”
The Dolphins haven’t made any statements yet, although we’re sure they’re gathering information and take this very seriously. |

I take "inside sources" with a grain of salt but I admit the thought has crossed my mind that the Pats could be setting themselves up to move on from Brady.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/05/report-brady-uncomfortable-with-changes-to-patriots-personnel-and-coaching-staff/
Quote: | Report: Brady “uncomfortable” with changes to
Patriots personnel and coaching staff
The dismal state of the Patriots offense has been a big topic of conversation this week after they crashed and burned against the Chiefs on Monday night.
Quarterback Tom Brady has been in the middle of that discussion as people wonder whether he’s close to the end of his long run as the main man in New England. According to a report from Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Brady isn’t thrilled with the direction the team has taken recently.
Per Mortensen, Brady is “uncomfortable” with some of the changes to personnel and the coaching staff and that he has seen his level of input into the offense — things like game planning, pre-snap adjustments and personnel packages — drop of late. There’s no question that the Patriots have failed to find receivers talented enough to help Brady over the last couple of years and their offensive line, which saw guard Logan Mankins depart in a trade just before the start of the season, has been a mess this year, the first without the now-retired Dante Scarnecchia coaching the group. The shortcomings in those two groups come after the Pats used a second-round pick to take a backup quarterback a few years after doing the same with a third-round selection.
Former Patriot Tommy Kelly has raised the question of whether the Patriots are making decisions based on what’s best for football or what’s best for the pocketbook, something that could be read into Mortensen’s report as well. That trajectory could mean that Brady will follow in the footsteps of Peyton Manning, Brett Favre and Joe Montana and end his career somewhere else, something that probably should have never seemed as impossible as it did for most of Brady’s career. |
