If we pick someone up this season it's going to be one of these two. Who do you prefer?
I was on the Melo bandwagon. I now think Love is a better pairing with Kobe. I feel Love is the only one out of these two that can match Kobe's work ethic, and competitive nature.
I could definitely see Kobe passing the torch to K-Love as well. |

If I had to pick one I'd take Love.
I don't like Anthony.
But I'm not all about taking a superstar. If Lakers can take like 3 very good players instead, I would be very happy (players like Bledsoe, Deng,...). Question is, can you win a championship with a homogeneous team? |

Spurs and Dallas were homogenous-esque. |

True, but Dallas still has Dirk who can be considered a superstar. Spurs yes, we can consider them quite homogeneous. But then we need a Pop-like coach :/ |

If we can't trade for Love then the real question is would you rather have Melo this off season or Love next off season? |

Yup, there is no Pop-like coach. But at the same time, Pop has arguably the best point guard in the game since he's been with the Spurs. I know people think CP3 is the best, but Tony Parker I'd argue, is better and obviously more proven.
I think Stan Van Gundy is someone the Lakers should check out. He took Orlando to the Finals.
I think Kobe will be a top 10 scorer next season if he can stay healthy. But he needs help. I get chills just thinking about how many second chance attempts we would get with Love on the court. |

I would take Melo this off-season for sure...because that means we keep our top pick...and we'd have Kobe, Melo, and who knows...if lucky a top 3 pick. |

Maybe it's just me,but I think Parker and Duncan are both Superstars. Duncan is one of the best and skilled big-men of all time. And Parker is in my opinion the best pg in the game today. |

Parker is the best PG of his generation IMO. I'd take him over Nash or CP3. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

I would rather have Love for the following reasons:
1. He's like 4 years younger then Melo
2. Much better rebounder then Melo. Like 13rpg compared to 8rpg
3. Better three point shooter then Melo
4. More unselfish then Melo
5. His max deal would be way cheaper then Melo's. I think like 5-7 miion per year difference. |

He isn't a better three point shooter than Melo. |

Since you listed Nash that means Jason Kidd qualifies, I'd take Kidd over all of them. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |

That's a bold statement. I think J-Kidd's career as a whole is much more impressive. Had he played under a coach like Pop, or a first rate franchise like San Antonio for his entire career, there's no telling what he could have accomplished. |

I don't think either one is the answer. Melo is a #1 but he will be due for another max contract through his mid 30's. Love is young but he's more of a #2, not the guy you build around. |

Yeah, I know a lot of people like Kidd better. I'd take Parker. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

To me the best point guards of the past 15 years would be: Kidd, Nash, Paul, and Parker... in that order. I'd consider each of those guys a superstar. |

I'm scratching my head wondering why I vote in these stupid polls. Then I make a comment and I realize, "Oh yeah, I'm post padding." _________________ Not a legend |

Love v. Melo. Interesting. I guess we're assuming the supporting cast are equal (b/c Melo/Love have anywhere from $5-7m a year difference in max salaries IIRC)?
Melo: (pros over Love)-can take over games (remember Love's true shooting % decreases tremendously in 2nd half of games...1st half he is prime Dirk, 2nd half his TS% is the same as JR Smith)
-matchup nightmare for SFs and PFs alike on defense
-can create for himself off the dribble
-mid-range game as well as the 3 pointer
-aggression to score
Love: (pros over Melo)-younger and cheaper
-better overall rebounder (though a bit of a stat padder on that end)
-much better passer, especially fast breaks
-more consistent 3 point shooter
-better efficiency
Traits that are subjective:-Melo has a more "take it over" streak (which can be a negative too)
-I see Love as being more resigned to a 2nd option (though he puts up huge offensive stats).
Common traits:-Melo is average defensively (and I don't buy the branding that Melo is a horrific defender); Love is overall a below average defender, but plays decent team defense and is a great defensive rebounder
VERDICT FOR ME: Love, because of his age, price, and ability to slide in as a #2 option under Kobe, then hopefully someone like Durant. While I'd prefer Melo if he was 3 years younger, his price may be prohibitive. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I go with Love as I seem him as a younger Pau, I don't mean skill wise, but in the sense he would be a solid part of a super star duo 1B to the 1A we still need to land or draft (I am not including Kobe because I am assuming if we signed Love as FA, Kobe would be in his last year) |

Kidd, CP3, and Nash were much more valuable to their teams and i think all were better overall players. Parker is a great player but you put one of those players in their prime with Duncan and i think they win more championships then the Bulls teams. |

Love, easily. Melo is a one trick pony who's not getting any younger. Anyone watch the Miami vs Knicks game? That's the real Melo. _________________ Music is my medicine |
