The Lakers have a waiting list that will keep their season seats filled for the next decade, no matter what. They don't need to appease the season ticket holders. |

This is modern age muckraking. However, I do think Dantoni has some major faults. He doesn't use all the talent that is available and if he has a favorite, he overuses them. I can get over the nixed CP3 trade, but I can't get over Kobe's Achilles. How many 40+ minute games did Kobe play by then? |

If you're the Lakers I think you need to bring in a new coach who can energize the fan base a bit. D'Antoni has worn out his welcome. Retreads like Karl, Hollins, Dunleavy, Scott, etc aren't gonna do that. If the master plan is free agency 2015 and 2016, then I think, as an organization, you need to build momentum and show potential free agents that this is the place to be. I don't think you can sell tradition and the LA lifestyle like you used to.
If they bring in a coach who can actually develop talent, not just let them chuck threes all game, and a coach who has charisma then I think once again, the Lakers become a hot destination. Right now there's too much perceived negativity and turmoil with ownership. The Lakers need a face and a salesman. Calipari is an intriguing idea if true. But there are other choices like him that could also work. |

+1
If they didn't have to field a roster from scratch next year, they probably keep him. |

It would be perfect if the last game against the Spurs was at home. They could fire him as soon as the final buzzer goes off, and have him escorted out of the building....Fresh Prince style.
I'll settle for firing him the day after the season ends. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest |

What waiting list? You can get season tix as part of a year round deal if you sign up for the Kings. _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

Past 3 weeks I've been told Lakers will decide Mike D'Antoni's future when season ends. I'm told Lakers are leaning toward keeping him. |

What respectable coach would want to come here at this point?
We chew up our coaches, spit them out, stomp on them and then point and laugh at their remains.
Maybe someone desperate for a job will be excited to come here. |

So SAS and Mcmenamin say he's probably gone and Medina and Ding say he's probably retained. |

I don't believe this rumor at all, because of who it came from.
http://lakeshowlife.com/2014/04/08/lakers-rumors-lakers-leaning-toward-firing-dantoni/
Quote: | .@mcten on ESPN minutes ago said the #Lakers are leaning towards firing head coach Mike D’Antoni at the conclusion of this season. |
The ESPN guy, McWhatever.
I don't trust Kevin Ding very much, but I trust him more than McWhatever because Ding has been around the Lakers longer. So if Ding and Medina are saying something that contradicts McWhatever, then I am siding against McWhatever.
McWhatever is the junior Lakers beat reporter for ESPN, with Ramona being the senior Lakers beat reporter, I believe.
The junior reporters usually don't get the best sources in my understanding. So I very seriously doubt that McWhatever has better Lakers sources than do Medina and even Ding.
With all that has happened in the last 24 hours, I am actually becoming more convinced than ever that MDA will be back next year. The Calipari thing was smoke, and now people like Medina are reaffirming what Ding said a week ago or so about the Lakers leaning towards keeping MDA.
And I'm ok with that, as we work through another expected treadmill season. I do think that if MDA sticks around, though, that next season has a very good chance of being his last.

Kobe doesn't check himself in and out of games. Kobe playing all those minutes, and Mike D trying to save himself and letting him, is what caused that injury. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest |

Kobe was trying to save the season. Sure MDA could've tried harder to manage kobe's minutes at the time, but Kobe decided he wanted to play all those minutes the rest of the year. The situation was so desperate MDA had no choice but to let him. Kobe may not check himself in and out of games but he does have enough clout to demand he's on the court in such a dire situation. Nonetheless, MDA's managing of minutes isn't very good. The kobe situation is tricky tho |

He was a horrendous hire, but he didn't deserve it this year as much as last, this year practically any coach would have had the results he did.
I just don't get what they could have learned in this year that they didn't already know last year. |
