Lebron is at his absolute prime and he's so damn good that we could easily put together a contender with just him as our base.

You could probably even keep Dantoni and get it done

I don't see how playing Mitch makes the best team possible. He's really old.

Kobe, Lebron and Nash would make around $54 mil, the rookie would be at around $3.5 mil. Getting a big would have to be a room exception or vet min choice. Vet min for the remainder of the roster.

We have seen how LeBron fairs without a super team

Lebron to the Lakers would fix everything.... Jim should promise a backdoor ownership deal and get it done

We wait until Kobe and Nash retired and sign Durant.

Not sure if this is a dig at Lebron. But we've also seen how Kobe fairs without a super team too. You need multiple stars to win a championship and having the undisputed best player is a good start.

1. Draft best player available with the pick. Let's look at our options here:

Emblied- Would give us defensive big at a cheap price, this helps us out a lot because bigs are expensive. Plus, this allows us to be able to afford to put Lebron at the 4, which means Kobe goes to the 3. This puts us in much better shape defensively imo. This pick might also help convince Lebron to come.

Wiggins- Defensive wing that could spread the floor for Lebron. His defensive prowess could also help with moving Lebron to the 3 and Kobe to the 4. This guy could be a superstar learning from Kobe/Lebron.

Parker- Combo forward like Lebron, but he ain't no Lebron. None the less he is a talent. This guy also helps spread the floor, which always helps with Kobe/Lebron. Doesn't do nothing for our D though, but he would be the best player available.

Smart- Love the kids defense and size at the 1, love his aggressiveness. Not sure if be would be the ideal fit with Lebron though, since he struggles with his jumper.

Randle/Vonleh- Both 4s that could spread the floor. Maybe they go in that direction.

I'm going to assume that we take Randle here.

2. Sign Lebron, ask him who he wants to coach the team.

3. I'm going to assume we hire Calipari

4. We then have approx 2 million in cap space available, we have a 2.7 million room exception and we have a 2.78 million trade exception (Blake trade) We try to get the best 3 players possible with that (1 year deals).

At this point roster looks like this:

1. Kobe 23,500,000
2. Lebron 20,250,000
3. Nash 9,700,000
4. Sacre 915,000

We could get some pretty good players with that money and players will even come on board at minimum deals. Then next season, we could actually sign Kevin Love. Then maybe KD the following season.

Cap projection = $63 million
Kobe + Lebron + Sacre = $44 million

1. stretch Nash ($3 million --> $47 million)
2. draft Smart (let's say we end up with #6) ($3 million --> $50 million)
3. renounce all free agents except Meeks and Marshall (cap hold is $3 million --> $53 million)
4. Gortat starting at 7.5 million/year ($60.5 million)
5. cap holds for 5 unfilled roster spots ($2.5 million --> $63 million)
6. Jordan Hill with room exception (would probably need to fire MDA...fine with me)
7. re-sign Meeks with Early Bird exception (up to $5 million)

Gortat
Lebron
Kobe
Meeks (or move Kobe and Lebron down and start Hill)
Smart

6th man: Hill (or Meeks)
Additional bench: Marshall, Sacre

minimum candidates to round out roster:
Xavier/Bazemore/Johnson/Kelly
Aaron Brooks
Shannon Brown
Brandon Rush
Mike Miller
Elton Brand
Jermaine O'Neal

If Lebron signed... first off I'd wake up... secondly I think at that point you flex nash... that 6 mil or so would be vital... that it'd open up. You'd be able to get two 3 million dollar type players... which are legit starters in the NBA... then use the other options... MLE etc.

Lakers would need to surround Nash and Lebron with shooters/slashers like Meeks and Young.
