Michael Jordan's success as a owner is realized this season. Kudos to one of the GOATS....
And it's not just because they are in the playoffs, but I think they could upset a team or two. They are 6th in defensive efficiency, and lead the league in defensive rebounding %.
"Schematically, the Bobcats aren't doing a lot. They pack the paint, crash the defensive glass, limit transition opportunities and avoid giving free passes to the charity stripe.
Everything is built around preventing easy buckets. Again, not exactly earth-shattering stuff." - Bleacher Report
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2023275-are-charlotte-bobcats-poised-to-play-major-playoff-spoiler
Bobcats actually match up better with Miami since their whole defensive scheme is to stop easy baskets, and transition buckets, which is what Miami tries to do night in and night out.
And Al Jefferson is going to exploit any team with weak interior defense(both Miami and Pacers would not do well against Al).
I think they have the potential to take Miami or Indiana to 7 games, and even cause an upset.
Bottom line is you don't want to play the Bobcats in the 1st round. |

It also speaks to how terrible the conference is....these teams are barely over .500 and they are making the playoffs. The team behind them is 6 games under .500 and are going to make the playoffs as well. |

It had to happen eventually. I bet fewer believed the Clippers would ever be an NBA title contender. I never thought it would happen in my lifetime. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Congrats to the Former Laker Assistant Coach Steve Clifford who got out before the roof caved in this season. |

they have a chance against the Pacers, but so do almost every team in the league right now. They have 0 chances against the Heat, not enough firepower. They have to get the ball to Jefferson for him to be effective down low and the Heat come playoff time play lockdown D, trapping and taking the passing lanes. Also, what Jefferson gives them on the O, he takes on the defensive side of the ball. They dont have high quality shooters to play that inside out game at elite level.
I'm more interested in the possible Spurs x Grizz showdown. The Grizzlies add some good shooters since last year and will be looking for revenge |

there are poised to be many spoilers in the eastern conference, i mean its a toss-up between any of the teams that aren't indiana or miami. The rest are all equally underwhelming |

If its anything but a Miami vs Indiana Conference Finals in the east I would be surprised. The rest of the of conference is utterly terrible... |

"Michael Jordan's success"
Yeah... or no.
It's not really a success. Just over time, and in a terrible conference, he finally reach a playoffs spot. But it's not like what he did is genius. |

They'll lose in 5 games.
Big Al has been amazing this season though. Bobcats have a decent core and with them being in the east, they can probably make the playoffs for multiple years. It's good that they're finally start to get out of that funk of being "the Bobcats" that everyone loved to make fun of. |

Al Jefferson has been nice. They just more scoring help. Can't wait until they return to the Hornets. When you look at it, the conference has been a surprise. Injuries were a killer for CHI and BKN.
Healthy MIA should lose no more than one game if they play the Heat. |

Plus the Heat are 4-0 against the bobcats in the regular season. Bobcats don't have the depth. Starting to look more like an Atlanta vs Miami showdown in the ECF. |

His success is realized based on your guess that they might upset a couple of teams in the playoffs? Um, "realized" means something actually happened. So why don't we wait until that actually happens before we congratulate MJ. Until then, he's just in charge of a mediocre team that got into the playoffs because its in a weak division.
Wouldn't exactly call Bleacher Report the gold standard for supporting a view point.

The Bobcats were 0-4 against the Heat this season. |

You know you're a lousy owner when the realization of success means you sneak into the playoffs in a historically bad field, where most of the "competitors" are actually trying to lose. _________________ “We must always take sides. Ok, well it's not like Jordan owns the Knicks...Lakers...or a big market team.
The Bobcats was barely founded in 2004. Jordan became majority owner in 2010. I would say Jordan has taken great stride thus far...getting into the playoffs regardless of how "weak" the Eastern conference is. Say what you want about the East, but the Pacers, Heat, Nets, and Bulls can beat any team in the West on any given night.
It's not that the East is really weak, it's just that Houston, Portland, and the Clippers are highly overrated.
Al Jefferson was a great acquisition for the Bobcats. Kemba Walker is an outstanding player. |
