I want the lakers to get players who have had been on winning teams & know what winning means.
what professionalism to bring.
not the crap these scrubs pulled. getting beat by the Bucks twice and then beating teams like OKC, Spurs
my wish list:
Ariza
Stephenson
Blake
farmar
I am OK to bring back even Artest for god's sake |
Ariza is 2~4 mil per
Stephenson is 4~5 mil per if the pacers choke, if not prepare to pay 6~8 mil.
Blake, maybe start at vet min if GS lets him walk.
Farmar is 2 mil or he goes back to euro.
None of the above will sign a 1 year deal with anyone.
I need better examples to take this post serious. |
Whoa. I think you're way underpricing these guys.
Ariza is probably around $4m minimum range IMO.
Stephenson will be getting offers from $8m upwards.
Blake probably gets around $2-2.5m. |
I'm guessing Stephenson gets an 8 figure deal. Ariza would be a bargain at 4. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

I think ariza ends up in the mle-7 range, as long as teams don't suspect last year was a contract year thing. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Yup. Those were my minimum range. Not sure if Ariza gets $6m and up. That's what he's getting now. Maybe $4-5.5m range IMO. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

How exactly is Stephenson a winner? He wasn't won anything yet but some regular season games. |

Yeah him too. If we're ONLY signing people who have won before, that severely limits who we can sign. |

Good to know the numbers - I was wondering what amount it was. That's probably what they are looking at as a budget to re-sign Pau and get some more help as well.
The major issue IMO with spending on the small fish now is that you don't know who your big fish is, and the small fish need to compliment the big fish.
I have no clue if it's LeMarcus or Kevin Love or DeAndre or whomever they can sign in 2015. I mean it's basically a crapshoot in some ways, because it also depends on those guys.
IMO if you spend now, you might as well spend with Kobe/Gasol in mind, build a 2 year team and start from scratch in 2016 (what was supposed to happen in 2014) around our 2014 lottery pick + 60 M in cap space in 2016. I don't see any real incentive of what I think is the Laker plan - which is to keep options open for 2015 but also spend on keeping Gasol in 2014 summer, and adding more talent via FA in 2014.
But I won't say anything concrete until I see what they do. Just I believe one of the foolish things some teams do is spend on role players with capspace they've preserved for years, only to find out they don't need that role player anymore once they sign the big fish.

Why would all these winners want to come to a losing team?
How would the Lakers pay them?
This is a new era. We're going to have to be patient and take a chance with young, unproven talent. |

Actually we don't know the numbers yet, they haven't even announce next seasons numbers yet they normally announce them in July. Its just speculation Coon stated in a chat back in February that "The Lakers could add $22.1 million in long-term salary over the next year, and still have money for Love in 2015, which depends on the cap increasing to $65 Million, so we really don't know yet.

Great. Another thread to piss and moan about how screwed up our franchise is.
Okay, I'll bite. Any free agent worth his salt is not coming to a losing franchise on a one-year deal. That's why we had the roster we did this year. We have a fine bench, a.k.a. this year's starters. Add in Kobe, a new coach, a top draft pick, and a 10-11 mil f.a. (like Lance Stephenson) and we'll be vastly improved. Not championship contenders, but not the suck ass team of 2013-14. _________________ Not a legend |

I think it be disappointing to see Pau used as that $8-10 mil player that we expect the FO to sign.
Much rather see a run at Bledsoe, Lowry or Stephenson with Okafor at C _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

The guy who is 4th in the league in assists per shot. He's not a selfish player by any means.
Nick Young - that's a selfish player. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

I would actually be okay with Gortat if Steve Nash was healthy. He's the *perfect* pick and roll center to pair with him as evidenced by their time in Phoenix.
Kendall Marshall and Marcin Gortat i'd imagine would be very effective.
My guess though, is Washington matches anything (below maybe 10 million) for Gortat. |
