whatsup fellas... first and foremost, i want to start by saying, i've been a Laker fan since birth (1987 to be exact). purple & gold runs through my bloodline, and i've been representing as hard as anyone through thick and thin. i'm sure there are many here who can relate to this level of support, which is why i came here to pose this question.
would anyone here who edits videos and/or does laker mixtapes be interested in editing a laker and/or kobe mix to a song we did? we intend to get this song promoted globally, and with the playoffs coming around, we're looking to network and have it be a national theme for the NBA. we're already in talks with some local radio stations and if the song goes where we're hoping, whoever takes on the task of putting together a mixtape will definitely reap the benefits along with us. the song is called "can't tell me how to win" and is a championship/sports themed rap song by local artists L.A.M.B. it would be even cooler if we could get a video mixed to some highlights displaying the lyrics underneath as well (though the lyrics are not a requirement). if anyone is willing to lend a laker loyalist a helping hand, we promise to pay it forward. if anyone is interested in this project, please post in here and/or email me at sccitlamb @ gmail.com

Just a word of warning. It's one thing for a fan to take some videos, put it to a song, and slap it on youtube. That is illegal (copyright infringement of the video), but usually the most that happens is the copyright holder makes youtube take it down.
It's quite another thing to take video that someone else owns, put it on a song you are trying to promote, and then distributing that widely with your fingerprints all over it. In the second case, don't be surprised to see the copyright holders to the video come after you. Or even Kobe's people -- they probably won't like you using his image for free for use in what is basically a music video. |

| don't get me wrong, we're not trying to sell it or make money off of it, but rather put it up on youtube for free, in good faith and as a tribute to the lakeshow. it's for the people, if anything..no money involved whatsoever. i've seen my share of laker highlight videos and thought putting one to this basketball themed song would be a nice gesture for the fans. it's not a music video either. we actually plan on making a 100% original video in the near future, we just wanted to do this one for the laker fans first and foremost. so yea, no money, if anyone is interested in helping out, please let me know. i'd do it myself, but i dont have the tools or the means to put a highlight video together. |
