Didn't see it posted. If it was, delete the thread. It's a good article, giving us more insight about the family dynamic. However, most of this is already known.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketball/nba/lakers/la-sp-lakers-buss-family-20140420,0,3659636.story#ixzz2zNcLaCat
Interesting points for me
1) Jeanie was the main reason for the Kobe extension
2) Jim didn't mind trading Pau, Mitch didn't want to
3) Mitch gets his way the majority of the time. More than most people think. The whole Jim is holding us back thing doesn't match up with this article.
4) Jim is willing to step down in 3-4 years if they aren't contending. He's that confident they will be back at it. Doesn't match up with the whole Jim Buss has an ego. |

hopefully jeanie's through advising on contract extensions. i think johnny buss would be a better mentor to young jesse than joey. basically: stay out of the way. |

Put your job on the line if you're about your plan. I'm down with it.
If he hasn't built a contender by then, it's a fair expectation to place. I'm glad to see he understands that the leash on running the team can get pulled soon.
I think it's a fair expectation. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

Fair enough.
Give Jim till 2016 or so.
If Lakers aren't a contender, he steps down and someone else takes completely over of basketball op.
I just don't see how the Lakers are supposed to be contenders when Kobe is retiring. If there was a time they could contend it is now. I don't see how they can contend 2-3 years from now, unless our draft pick this year turns out to be a superstar.
Usually for teams it gets harder not easier once their all time great retires. Jazz after Malone. Bulls after Jordan. Lakers in 91-95 era after Magic. Etc. |

I like it. Jimmy taking some accountability and putting some pressure upon himself to build a winner. As much as I've been critical of Jimbo, I want him to succeed. Simply because I want my Lakers to succeed.
First order of business-- bite the bullet for a third time, fire MDA, and make sure you pick the right head coach this time. _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.

Jimmy will keep moving that goalpost up a season or two as each futile season after futile season progressively goes by. |

Mitch left to his own devices to be a GM is fine by me. It's Jimmy that's the problem.
Step down now...not in a few seasons. |

2016 is not 3-4 years from now....it's only 2 years away. More like 2017 - 2018. |

This was already reported before you started this thread (which is actually giving many of us heart attacks).

the article was pretty much a puff piece (no mention of little jesse's trip to the drunk tank on a scouting mission). does jeanie have an opinion on pau's next contract? |

This is a must read...
Interesting about Steve Nash and his back
It takes 4 out of six of the Buss siblings to sell the team, I could see that happening, especially if a couple of the Busses are gamblers and /or if a couple more want a big pile of money all at once. _________________ .....

Jim Buss pursued it, but I've never read that Mitch was against it. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |

In other words, Lakers are trading the pick to have Kobe "contend" now, which is within the 3-4 years Jim states. _________________ |

I doubt they sell the team I rather have the team in the hands of the buss family rather than some unethical pharmesutical billionaire |
