^^ not much reality in what? Proposals are just that. Nothing I've said is far-fetched, not that there's antyhing wrong with that either.
Before Embid's foot, Exum was slated to be #4. Feasible for Orlando to trade down because they also like Smart. Now it's different story. Exum gets moved up, probably out of reach for our #7 + asset.. But not previously.
Perkins is absolutely expendable (with Adam stepping up) and worth moving OKC's pick to clear cap if they wanted to sign somebody. It's a logical choice to go after Deng, a 2-way player since Sefolosha is primarily a defender and is a free agent demanding around 5 mil. Perkin(9 mil) Sef (5 mil) + pick (1 mil) can net OKC an all-star caliber player in Deng (12-13 mil x 3 year- he turned down 10 x 3 from Chi) + 1 min vet. Deng/Ibaka/Durant/Westbrook/Adams is a superior team than if they got everyone back at a higher cost and it would put them over the cap if they did.
As far as Boozer and him being an obstacle for getting Carmelo. Moving a pick to get it done is a no brainer. Laker have the cap to do help out. Jim would love to stick it to Phil by helping Chi get Melo.
Note: Let's see now. Broadcasters - No one from that bunch has ever left their job to coach. Not riley. Not Van Gundy. Not Jackson. Not nobody. Ever. Yup.
Fisher, never wanted to coach, Phil reached out. voila head Coach. Also, note, "convince" really means go talk to him and see if he would be interested. Him not saying if he wanted to or not does not mean he doesn't want to... even then, see Fisher. Talk to him - "convince" Battier is a guy who if he accepts a HC job, every coach/player he's played with/agaisnt will say, he will succeed. Kobe/Lebron would be such players. |

All the people you mentioned had known aspirations to coach, many since they were late in their careers - Battier has not stated that.
"every play WILL say" (hmm)
If any team is stupid enough to offer a guaranteed $5M/$25M/5 years, Battier/anybody would take it. Jim/Jeanie/Mitch are not that desperate or foolish.
You are entitled to your views.
I am grateful that Jim/Jeanie/Mitch have done their own research and will make their own decisions |

You're an Idiot. Why would Kobe want to play for Battier? Thats a slap in the face to play for a scrub that he torched regularly. Battier will NEVER wear Purple and Gold. |

Interesting theory you have. "entitled to one's views" but not worthy to yours.
BTW. sometime it's refreshing to look outside of the straight line. Here's an example. Kendrick=Kwame is a matter of opinion when it comes to skill levels, of which I disagree with. But for all intended purposes, let's make a comparison. At this moment in time, there's no question Perkins>Brown. For their career, there's irrefutable evidence to suggest Perkins>> Brown. That's just the straight line approach - stats. But if you include intangibles, Perkins was a immense cog in anchoring a defense in a championship run. kwame's contribution was his contract. For the other part of looking at it differently, acquiring perkin isn't solely about value on the court (why else would they trade Kwame for Pau???) The value of Perkins is getting that draft pick, the one that we couldn't get for Pau. Although, Perkins could still contribute on the court.
Exum>Smart is only a by product of a ranking system based on opinions. The only way to know if Exum>Smart is for them to go head-to-head. Something we'll see next year. However, because of the ranking system, Exum being not necessarily the consensus better PG because he has some question marks, it's entirely possible for a team to trade down to Getting another pick is an incentive while getting the guy who they consider less of a risk in Smart.
As for Battier. I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with that. In comparison to recently retired players immediately getting the HC gig, IMO Battier is far superior to Fisher and Kidd due to his intelligence. If you want to trash someone for being desperate or foolish to hire someone fresh then trash on Phil, he is certainly not Jim/Jeanie/Mitch. He's smarter than all 3 of them combined. |

Pincus said the Lakers is 6.8mil under the cap with 5 mil promised to Swaggy and not counting Hill's 9mil. The salary stands at 52 mil now for 6 roster spots. assuming a hold of 7 more at the min (.5-1 mil) puts it at around 57. Kelly, and our camp invites would fit under this scenario.
let's say they wait to sign Swaggy and Hill (14mil) and bid 4 mil for Boozer. The cap becomes 61. Since both Hill and Swaggy are Lakers FA, they can exceed the cap but remain under the projected threshold of 77mil.
I would think 4 mil will be the winning bid for Boozer. So that leaves our roster with.
C: Hill/Sacre: 13pts/10 rebs/2 blks
PF: Randle/Boozer/Kelly : 20 pts/12 rebs/1 blk
SF: Xavier/Wes(hopefully): 15 pts/5 rebs/1 blk
SG: Kobe/Swaggy/Clarkson: 30 pts/7 rebs/6 assts
PG: Lin/Nash/Marshall: 15pts/3 assts/8 assts
I think this team can put up points very well in the slow down half court sets. They should be able to hit the targetted stat lines. The defensive end will need some work/schemes especially with our bigs being higher air challenged and Kobe being Kobe. I can see this team winning 35-40 games good for the 8th-10th spot. Phoenix gets our pick.
or we can pass on Boozer and tank big time but give Randle heavy minutes to work out his mistakes, and he makes plenty, wanting to be Magic and all... Good handles but dribbles too high for my taste.
(Note: I predict Lin will light it up his first 10 games to a tune of 20 ppg/8 assts but won't be able to sustain... Kobe plays good teammate and defers then eventually takes it over.) |

Quick question. How come do the Lakers have 3.25M to bid on Boozer? I heard they had around 2.5M left.
Secondly, they now have only the room exception, 2.7M, and the minimum, right?
Thanks |
