It's probably Byron... Longtime part of the Laker family, it's his dream job, it'll probably mean more to him than any of the others. |

voted Thibs. i think we'll throw a future 1st rounder at the bulls. hopefully we're not bad enough to really regret that. if it ends up being like pick out of the lottery, thats fine, for a championship caliber coach. would be way more valuable than the player |

I'm going Tibs over Byron. Obviously he's a longer shot, as he has to be fired or compensated for but that's my choice. Jim Buss will continue to try and put his mark on the team and hiring a former player doesn't quite do that. The bigger reason is Tibs is a rare commodity in that he somehow actually gets vets and young players to play defense together. My guess is they end up with more scoring than D by the end of the offseason and lean on him for this reason. |

I doubt the Bulls want our 2019 first, unless Thibs really wants to come here then maybe they'll accept it. |

I really hope the Lakers hire either Thibs or or a fresh face like Ollie. I really don't want any regurgitated coaches like Van Gundy or Scott. |

Byron Scott... no interest in Byron Scott, overhyped
Kevin Ollie... his NBA experience, players coach, highly professional, winner
Tom Thibodeau... is this Mike Brown part II...??
John Calipari... great recruiter, "nothing special" coach
Derek Fisher... overachiever, no coaching history
Jeff Van Gundy... puhleeze no
George Karl... outstanding NBA coaching experience, history of turning franchises around, winner wherever he goes, should be seriously considered if healthy enough to coach
Kurt Rambis... have seen nothing to make me believe he would even be an average coach, let alone a good one.
Lionel Hollins... potential Doc Rivers-lite
Mike Dunleavy... pretty mediocre coach, bland, and although that works for Popovich... Dunleavy is "no Popovich"
Conclusion: Hoping LA brings in either Ollie or Karl... both bring different benefits to the table... but both are winners and great communicators. _________________ A three headed monster... Jeannie, Pelinka, and Ham... another terrible season. |

Always wished for Coach K....But that's just dreaming....
Thibs is also too far fetched, too many rings to jump through to get him...
Ollie would be my wish beyond these guys..... |

Byron Scott bring it back to the Laker family... Byron would have the most support.

#3 Mark Jackson |

Im hoping for:
1. Coach K
2. Thibs
3. Kevin Ollie
4. George Karl
other tha those 4....theres NONE that i think can turn this franchise around after the worst season...
Coach K can bring superstar Free Agents to this franchise...
Thibs can also attract some & he is a good Defensive coach...
Ollie fresh blood, dynamic, youthful...
George Karl full of experience & a winner... |

Man I hope it's not Byron Scott. That would be the 3rd coaching hire in a row we screwed up.
We'd be hiring the guy who got replaced by Mike Brown. |

Scott is so overrated
Ollie is too young to control the egos of big NBA stars
I like Thibs but think its silly to even entertain the thought at this point |

I'm not going to even guess. If you had told me three years ago our next two coaches would be Mike Brown and Mike D'Antoni I would have laughed at you.
I just hope whoever they choose it's a collaborative effort this time so no one in the organization goes running to the media claiming he wasn't their choice. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

It's a coaching circus. So Byron replaced Mike Brown, only to be replaced by Mike Brown a few years later, then he comes here to replace Mike D'Antoni, who replaced Mike Brown a few years earlier.
Byron's career is experiencing diminishing returns of late, he did get to the finals twice (NJ) and had a competitive team in NO, but once he gambled on LeBron returning to Cavs, he royally (no pun intended) got (bleeped) by the Decision after he signed. |

Word from Ramona Shelburne is that she's hearing it's not likely, he leveraged the Laker offer into a sweet deal for himself last time, so they'll look elsewhere this time. |

Ideally would you prefer to see who you get in the draft and who you can get in the offseason and then sign a coach that fits (even though you might miss on some players that would refuse to come without knowing who the coach will be) or sign a coach and then try to get players who fit him even though theses players might not be available. |

Zach Lowe on the Cavs under Byron Scott last year.
Quote: | Cleveland improved by tiny bits on defense in Byron Scott’s three seasons there, at least relative to league average, and there’s something to be said for maintaining that improvement even after losing Anderson Varejao to a season-ending injury this year. But the improvements were so small as to border on inconsequential; Cleveland ranked 27th in points per possession, about where it was in Scott’s prior two years, and the team was just a total mess on that end of the floor.
But more than that, there just didn’t seem to be any rules to Cleveland’s defense. Basic pick-and-roll strategies often changed possession-to-possession, and player-to-player, and rotations behind the play were either chaotic or nonexistent. Good defensive teams talk about all five players being “on a string” — moving together, so that when one player slides into help position at Spot X, his teammate knows naturally that he should move into Spot Y.
What’s the opposite of five guys “on a string”? Five guys rowing a canoe in different directions? That was Cleveland’s defense on too many possessions, on too many losing nights.
