Every blueliner is tied to the Kings.
And Jagr? |
I love Jags, but I wonder how he'd fit considering his style. Given, he's a legend and a brilliant hockey mind so I think he'd figure it out. But he's more finesse and passing style while Sutter always prefers the traffic, tips, and deflection type game.
Regardless, I'd still take him if the price is good.
D-men come first though, and this team needs to shore it up regardless of the win streak. Phaneuf I actually would like on the team....If it wasn't for the radio-active contract. |

Well, Sutter's managed to get vets on the forward side to buy into the system. No worries there. Would wonder if we can even afford Jagr though unless some salary is sent out.
lol, I think I have too many friends from Toronto because Phaneuf is PE#1 there. But yea, he's too expensive if he's not the #1 guy and is also a southpaw when we need a righty. May come down to Sekera or Petry. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

I guess the Kings see how incredibly careful players are towards Jagr. The guy barely gets touched it seems out of respect for what he's done in his career. That must help possession numbers when the opponents are scared to play physical with a former MVP and scoring champ.
As for the defenseman, Petry and Sekera make the most sense. I guess it depends on which one will be willing to re-sign at a cap friendly deal. Petry is probably the better fit being right-handed, but I prefer Sekera because he's a better player. I guess it depends on what the Kings are willing to give up. We still haven't see Forbort. |

Kings get their defenseman.
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/andrej-sekera-traded-to-la-kings-in-trade-deadline-coup-224712536.html
Andrej Sekera is now a King. But they paid a huge price to get him in a first rounder and prospect McKeown. I'm assuming Dean has already talked to the agent and Sekera is agreeable to staying with the Kings long-term since Dean isn't one to trade for rentals. I guess whatever the outcome of the Slava trial, he's outta here. Too bad the first rounder is this year. The draft is very deep and I was hoping the Kings can grab a few top prospects. |

Give me:
Regehr - Doughty
Muzzin - Sekera
McNabb - Greene
Plug Marty back in when healthy into McNabb's spot.
Probably should put Muzzin back with Doughty now that I think about it.
Watch Slav get acquitted tomorrow now. |

I had a jodeke moment when you said Marty. Made me think Martin Brodeur. That said, from now on, please address him by his full name: Alec Miranda Veracruz de la Hoya Cardenal Martinez. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

The first rounder hurts though McKeown's ceiling, though promising, isn't very high. If we make the playoffs, Hurricanes get a first rounder. Sekera should be somewhat acquainted with Gaborik though, as the two played internationally. Eagerly awaiting to see what Sutter does with the pairings now that we have a few too many left-handed D-men. |
McKeown has looked like crap this season in the minors, but I still feel he can be an NHLer in a few years. The first rounder is the crap shoot. If the Kings win it all again and Sekera re-signs, then Dean made another steal. That's how good and underrated Sekera is. If Sekera re-signs, then it's a good deal. If he doesn't and they don't win the Cup, the return will seem way too high for a rental. Knowing Dean, I'm sure Sekera will be agreeable to re-up with the Kings since LA is his favorite road destination. I don't think Dean is done dealing. Maybe he can flip McBain for some picks or make another "hockey" deal to fill out any gaps in the minors. |

Yea, it hasn't been good for him lately but the promise is still there. After time in Buffalo and Carolina, I think he'd be very happy to stay even without a Cup. Provided money isn't his only objective. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Earlier in the season there was an article that he was looking at $5-6 million. I think a deep and successful playoff run with character guys that fit his personality in a city that he enjoys could persuade him to stay longer. He's in his prime and I'm sure Dean will figure out a way to keep him happy and within the team's cap. |

Good game going on right now. Quick playing very well, but so is the Sen's goalie. |

What a (bleep)-show these last three games have been.
Shut out
Blown lead
Blown out
I fear whatever the encore is going to be...
Let's (bleep) pick it up on the road now fellas. |

Very unusual being so horrendous on the road. Especially as we won't be getting any home ice advantage if we even get into the playoffs. |
Feels like 2013 where the team was a sub-.500 road team, and only won one road game in the playoffs on the road to the WCF.
A beast team will be waiting for them once again if they go down this route and eventually take a game at Staples like Chicago did that year. It's time to start delivering on the road again if we want to repeat. |

Kings played a nice 1st period and look good so far tonight vs. Edmonton.
Needless to say, this is a must win for the 2 pts. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Yep. EDM needs to be an automatic 2 points, especially with MTL and PIT coming to town this week in LA. |
