He sounds like a Kings type of player from the scouting reports. I just hope he can bury the puck when given the chance. I like Trevor Lewis, but him and King have stone hands when it comes to shots on goal.

Lewis looks like one of those guys that should be a star, has all the moves, just can't finish for the life of him.

Adrian Kempe? With a name like that, he MUST throw out the first pitch at a Dodgers game!

Seriously though, it's great to have a Swedish player on the team again. From everything I've read, he's a solid two-way player that was projected to go much higher. And the fact that he's only 17 means that he should have some upside.

It certainly helps that the kid is only 17, and already playing in a pro league. In fact, he played in the same league as Kopitar, at a year younger. It'd be great if they just drafted a mini-Kopitar.

Sad to see Linden Vey traded, but better than to lose him on waivers. I guess this means more than likely Stoll will be re-signed next offseason. And the player they got for Vey looks to be a keeper. Surprised he dropped that far.

Kings re-sign Jeff Schultz to a 2-year deal, $850K/yr. I wonder if it's a 2-way deal. I guess McNabb will have some competition for that 7th d-man spot.

A few defenseman have been bought out today. Erhoff would be nice, but the Kings have no spots unless they trade Slava Voynov.

Yeah Erhoff still has a lot of hockey left in him. Shame we don't have any capspace. Would be nice to have him on the 2nd pairing.

Indeed. Unless Ehrhoff, Boyle, Gilbert, etc want to take a pay-cut for a Cup, likely we'll need to look internally.

With Schultz back at 850k, we have nice veteran 8th defensemen depth. Couple him with McNabb and we're set to go now it looks like. Was hoping Dean would sneak around in the bargain bin and see if we could coax a vet here. Not happening though, everyone and their mom getting paid today. Dave Bolland gets 5.5/yr, wtf Florida?

Agree. First day of free agency and a lot of players are getting overpaid. Dallas made a big trade as well getting Spezza. West is looking even tougher.

Desperation. Lot of horrendous contracts being thrown out there.

Brad Richards signed with Chicago. A good signing for Chicago since he only cost them $2 million for a season. Will be very interesting to see what Toews and Kane end up getting.

Willie Mitchell officially gone as he signs with Florida.

Looking at these WTF signings, man did Lombardi get a good deal with Gaborik.

Kings sign two forwards Cracknell and Van Der Gulik. They're gonna be in Manchester. Cracknell could be an interesting signing. I think he was the guy in that St. Louis series that was giving the Kings fits a couple seasons ago. Could be to replace Nolan?

Better Florida than a contender that needed a veteran D.

Mitchell signed by FLA, 2-years worth $8.5 mil. Holy (bleep)... I'll miss him, but good for Willie. There's no way he can turn that down.

Scroll down to Willie's name.

Well here's a name from the past. Olli Jokinen signed with Florida a few days ago. Can't believe it's been 17 years since he was drafted by the Kings. He was involved in the Ziggy Palffy trade, one of the most underrated players in the league and still an all-time favorite Kings player.

Screw you Bettman! Stupid commissioner pulled a David Stern before Stern did it to the Lakers via the Paul trade, vetoing a trade that was agreed upon. Kings made out like bandits on the original trade to NYI.

8 year extensions for Kane and Toews. $10.5 mil aav each.

Holy (bleep) crap. Those cap hits are absolutely nuts. I know those two are the franchise, but it's going to be real hard for them to work with limited cap space.

Definitely made things a bit easier for the Kings going forward.

Wow. I guess Bowman still has a bit of Tallon in him to give contracts that can be cap restrictive. Then again, it could be due to the current WTF market prices we're seeing. I'm a little worried what Kopitar will end up getting if this is the current rate and his next contract is coming up in a couple of seasons.

I find it ironic that Toews and Kane are saying how great the organization is when for years the organization has had it's run-ins with their own players, even when they won the Cup. I wonder how they'll feel once their salaries force the Hawks to trade away some good players for nothing. Luckily for Chicago they've got the prospects to replace them.

So far Dean Lombardi has shown why he's one of the best managing the salary cap. Dean has managed to keep the band together and still have wiggle room to make moves.

Pretty much. On that note, Ducks just signed Dany Heatley to a pretty affordable and risk-free contract. Kinda wish we could've given him a shot. Guy used to be fairly good, showed some signs of life during the playoffs, and that price would've been easy on the cap.

After today's Laker events, I think it's safe to say that Dean Lombardi is the best GM in Los Angeles.

LOOOL...

Well, we can at least look forward to another great Kings season in defending their cup...

The Lakers on the other hand look like they are going back into the tank wars...

Kings re-signed Andy Andreoff and Brayden McNabb. McNabb I expect to make the team. Andreoff will have to fight off some other players to make it (and all just to sit in the press box most likely), assuming he clears waivers if he makes the team. Hopefully the guy continues to develop. He's now looked upon as a potential Stoll replacement now that Vey is gone.

Definitely, but Kupchak isn't nearly as bad as some think. No one will ever compare to Jerry West.
