Beast. Deserves 30MPG. Doable even when Nance returns. Would just mean shorten the rotation to no Brewer/Bogut.
Lopez-28/Randle-20

Ingram-32/Kuz-12/KCP-4

Luke Walton on why Julius Randle played well so well tonight and in a reserve role: “That’s a good question. I’m trying to figure that out.” #Lakers
Obviously Luke doesn't know what is he doing for a long time.
Maybe because he got to play with Lopez and Lonzo both of whom he has very good chemistry with and fits with perfectly via his playstyle which everyone has been saying? _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

I think that quote is illustrative of the soured relationship between Luke and Randle. Luke perpetually seems to express forms of frustration with Randle, regardless of how well Randle is playing.
Its been nice though that over the last 2-3 games, he's finally playing Randle at PF next to Lopez. And, who could have guessed it, he looks good there. Surprise, surprise. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

He should be. I find it much better to have a guy like Randle at 22 if I want to take down the Warriors in 2-3 years as opposed to trying to rush the process of everyone else.
That and his fit with Kuzma, Lonzo and Lopez.
Still want to see this starting unit get a chance.

it seemed like he did the vast majority of his damage while playing center tonight.

Making no mention of defense, if you're just talking about points, it's pretty even actually. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service
Because we can't rely on him for a bucket unless we treat him like a role player.
He plays sooooo well with everyone else though. Kuz and sometime down the road Ingram can be relied on if we're talking a Ball-Kuz-Ingram-Randle core. _________________ Austin Reaves

Per GT, Randle was a +11 in 6 minutes next to Lopez in the 1st quarter. That's also when the game started to open up a bit for us (remember, Nuggets started the 1st half of the 1st with the lead). Coincidence?
Hopefully Luke learns something - match up Randle with a center who can both offer 3pt shooting and some back of the line shot blocking, and you unlock JR to do everything he does well. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

It's too bad Randle and Ingram aren't a good fit because Randle should be starting. Can we bump KCP to the bench and put Ingram or Kuz at SG?
Randle has become an efficient scorer. He's improved his FG% each year in the league. It's gonna suck when he wears an opposing jersey and drives the ball down our throat. We are like a farm system for the rest of the league. After 2 or 3 years, when you can start to reap the benefits of their game maturing, we let them go.
It's going to be insane around here if we don't sign legit max players this summer. What if Randle and D'Lo blossoms while we sign nobody? Oh man...
Because we can't rely on him for a bucket unless we treat him like a role player.
Sorry Mike, but I have to disagree with you if your suggestion is that Randle is playing better because he was benched. Randle is obviously an improved player from last season on both ends of the court. He's showing the results of the hard work he put in this summer. Walton playing him short minutes this season is just a head-scratching decision.
I say yes... He seems to be getting better and better game to game. With his age and potential I say pay the man and go after Boogie next season to pair with him. _________________ "You gotta take it like a fan"

I think Mike was implying that we play him off the ball rather than run offense through him, and that's the primary reason he's successful. I tend to disagree with that as well, especially of late. We've been giving Randle the ball a lot off the high post and asking him to make decisions. He's also been organizing the offense at the top of the arc a lot. Now, yes, he's being much more selective with his scoring opportunities, often looking to create his own shot only when he's in the full court or on the low block (as opposed to taking player off the dribble as much in the half court), but I think that's just about him playing smarter. His screen setting has dramatically improved and he's getting a lot of scored as the roll man as a result. I don't see him playing like a role player, but, yes, he's been way less ball dominant this year which is to his credit. He's just playing smarter.
That said, Mike has stated his opinion that Randle has had success mostly going up against backup bigs. I don't think that's accurate. In fact, in this very game, it was in part Randle's play against Jokic (tag teaming with Brewer) that eventually got Jokic to that level of frustration where he was kicked out. Against Phoenix, Randle spent most of his time against Greg Monroe, who was their starting C. Most games, Randle plays against starters (and against bench bigmen too) - it isn't one or the other. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service
